Being dubbed the first terrorist movie since 9/11, i just had to watch it!

I really enjoyed it. I havent seen Clear and Present Danger, and similar films because i thought they looked too boring, but this is really good. Maybe its cos it doesnt have stuffy old Harrison Ford in it.

It was enjoyable, and pretty tense/exciting, but the explosions did remind me of 9/11 quite a lot. Plumes of smoke etc... The thing is, we do have to move on at some point.

Anyone else seen it? anyone reckon i'll enjoy other clancy films if i liked this?
 
None of the Clancy films do any sort of justice to the books. In the original SOAF, the story is based AFTER Clear And Present Danger, with Ryan as Deputy Director (Intelligence), married with two kiRAB. The plot of the book revolves around a lost Israli nuke captured by Sirian terrorists, who use the help of facist German nuclear engineers to create a nuclear bomb which they detonate at the Superbowl in Denver. The plot of the film I gather is based around Neo Nazis creating the bomb and blowing it up around Baltimore.

Basically, when you watch a Clancy film you are watching an 800 page book cut back to 200 pages to make a film. Ive watched the original three movies and after reading the books, but its so much more fun reading the books, the action is thick and fast and the plots are good.

I will watch SOAF but my expectations are not very high, but from what Ive heard that all the cast are very good.

I wholeheartedly agree, i have read several of Clancys works and unfortunately the excellence is never carried over to the big screen.
Whist SOAF is a good film, those that have read and enjoyed the book will be dissapointed.

Always the way i guess.

I will see SOAF at some point but it's not on my list of must rush out and see movies - like everyone else said the books are far better IMO. Can't quite get my head round what the movie has done with the Jack Ryan timeline...

I've read practically everything that Tom Clancy has put his name to (with the exception of Airborne and Submarine) and the books of the previous three movies are far far better than the movies themselves, although I do really like The Hunt For Red October.

Some people on another board that I use have said the effects in SOAF are generally pretty darn good - somone who's seen it give us some examples?
 
I don't think 11 and 14 year olRAB would get it. I am 16 and my frienRAB hardly got it much - but I have studied the Cold War very closely recently for a History GCSE - so unless you are familiar with the background then I guess it would pass you by a little.

However I thought it was superb to see another film like this - they haven't had a film of this nature that was as good since The Hunt for the Red October.
