The Strangers (Released 29/08/08 - UK)

Im not saying that it didn't do well just the fact that they have to remake something so quickly is stupid.
Although i see that Deb from Dexter is in the US remake, oh yes! :D

At the risk of sounding a right woos how is this film remotely scary? My o/h wants to watch it and I really hate horror films, I'm ok watching on DVD, as I can get a pillow or if it's really bad go and do something else, but I wouldn't normally go to the cinema and watch them. I might relent and go if it's not that scary, the poor reviews and how naff it is, is actually good to hear for me :D

i just went to see the film at a special screening, i can tell you if is one of the best horror films ive ever seen, its simlar to Vacancy but 10x scarier, alot of jumpy bits and it just kept me on the edge of my seat , glad thyre making a sequel :D

Gerry d, wasn't it one of the little boys who went into the house at then end that we were hearing calling 911? That's what I thought anyway.

That's the way I understood it too - one of the boys made the call though I nearly didn't stay awake to the end. Most people at the screening I was at were yawning throughout and I can't blame them. This film comes a close second to 'Lost in Translation' as a film where you wait the whole film for something to happen.

Whether 'Ils' was made before or after 'The Strangers' is irrelevant it's a much better film. It's rare I'd say this but I'd advise anyone not to waste their money going to see 'The Strangers'.

I saw it yesterday and I thought it was a decent film, nothing ground-breaking or mind-blowing but it offered a few decent, scary moments.

Thought it was 'alright', not the greatest fillm I've seen and not the worst. Very much like Vacancy (not seen Them) Didnt find it at all scary (although some people in the cinema felt it necessary to scream and talk loudly about how scary things were every time they saw the masked people or there was a loud noise).

I do have to say though that is one film that I will not be watching when I'm in the house by myself!!!

Just seen this film and I was quite scared! I think it felt more scary because I thought these events really happened, but Im feeling a bit let down that the true events bit at the beginning was just fiction. Normally, when the film says this, the events did happen. I suppose its good they didnt really though, as it was quite horrific.

I've just finished watching it. It was bloody scary!!! The movie in itself wasn't all that great but I'll give it one thing- it did bloody terrify me!

I thought this was great, I watched it not really expecing much, was surprised at how scary it was. I find psychological horrors terrifying, it was very good.

Only thing that slightly disappointed me was the ending.

One of those inspired/based on...very very loosly based.Like it said about random attacks which I assumed was what inspired it..meh

Anyway an alright film. The audicnce made it worthwhile with the 'ahhhh' and 'oooos' lol, made it less scary but still hehehe.More scary spooky when they were banging etc less ahh when you saw them but still freaky masks

I know it's probably been said before but for me the scariest part was when

the masked man appears behind her in the house

there were gasps all over the cinema when that happened!

I really liked it, I felt like I was there with them, my friend and I were scared to go home!
