The Stephen K Amos Show

The only way this could have been worse would have been if he had said "tonight my special guests are Andi Osho and Gina Yashere!!!"

As it is, the special guests are pretty dire anyway.

Turning off now...seen enough.

I wonder why he is attracting such vituperativeness BEFORE we have had a chance to see the programme? Is this the new rule then? "Anyone who has a show and isn't white , has only had their show commissioned because they aren't white".
I love the way white comedians who aren't that funny are judged on their material but if a comedian isn't white , they are partly judged on their race.

It probably will be disappointing seeing as most comedy at the moment is but at least wait until it's been shown. This thread just looks like a silly witch-hunt

This has probably been the worst set of television I have seen this year. I said whilst watching it (around the six minute mark) this is as bad as Omid Djalili show. Those sketches in relation to Nigeria and Australia took me back to the days of the Russ Abbott show.

10:00 pm clicked over to watch this show
10:15 pm switched over to Heavy Metal Britannia on BBC4

What a pointless waste of time. SKA just doesn't have the presence to do standup. His delivery seemed to be:
say something
wait for audience to laugh (you could almost see him thinking "please laugh")
say something else

His material might have sounded funny when it was being written. And if they had a comedian delivering it, it could have been. Sadly, one thing SKA isn't is a comic - calling yourself one doesn't make it so

Personally I like Stephen K Amos. For me, he's one of those comedians who I find funnier without a script, rather than doing a routine- he's very sharp. But I'll certainly be watching his show:cool:

SKA does his best comedy delivery when he is given 5 minutes on stage to do his coo-cheese joke and his Lenny Henry joke.

Tonight was dire indeed, i can't see all 6 episodes actually airing on BBC2.

I have only ever seen him do stand-up once and that was on the Live At The Apollo he guested on. I actually thought he was hilarious on it. Anything else I had seen him on it was a bit part and he either said something not that funny or told a joke he had done on LATA. I have his live DVD recorded in Australia but haven't got around to watching it yet.

By all accounts he very good live, but this show is not right for Stephen K Amos. There was a sense of "please laugh" and the atmosphere did not feel right at all.
