The state I live in doesn't have a professional sports team. Who am I "supposed"

to root for then? See, I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings. There is a logic on this board that you're "supposed" to root for whatever team is near you. If you live in CA, you MUST root for a CA team, or if you live in NY, you MUST root for a NY team. You can't live in CA and be a Knicks fan, or you can't live in NY and be a Lakers or Clippers or Kings fan. If you live in CA and like NO team in CA, root for one anyway to make others happy. Okay then.

If someone lives in Mississippi, who are they "supposed" to root for? I notice any time I ask this question, the "bandwagon conspiracy theorists" can never answer it. Remember now, you're "supposed" to root for a hometown team. I have none. So, who "should" be my team?

And while you're answering, I will need an NFL and MLB team too. This is for those "bandwagon conspiracy theorists". You know who you are.
Cavs, Browns, Indians: you also forgot the Tennessee Titans, Houston Rockets, Houston Texans, the Memphis Grizzlies, Houston Astros, see, you said Louisiana, so why leave out TN and TX?

I know, I was born in a state other than North Carolina, so I don't root for the Charlotte Bobcats...not because I don't like them, but because I'm too busy rooting for my team.

Don't feel bad. It has also become a logic that if the Magic beats the Lakers in a game, all of the "Lakers haters" will come out...lmao. People on this site are ignorant.

Yea i agree with you on how you should cheer for your home team. That being said, im from LA, born and raised, so therefore Im a Lakers fan (and Clippers by proxy...eh). But currently am living in another state, but I still cheer for the Lakers no matter what, for me its always about, its not where you at but where you from. Now im not gonna lie, Mississippi is tricky, in your case, cheer for your favorite player. I know the Atlanta Braves have a farm system in Mississippi, also learn to see if any alumni or people born in the state are in the pros, thats a good way to cheer. Other than that your gonna have to cheer for whatever interests you.

you know what don't make this so complicated. Root for whoever the heck you want to root for. Whether its the "hometown team" or in your situation the one closest to your town or some team miles away. It really doesn't matter i mean who am i to judge you if you like a team from... Los Angeles as long as you are loyal and love that team with a passion then that's fine. It should be fine i don't see anything wrong with it at all. I'm not big on the whole "you're supposed to root for so and so" thing like who made up that rule? I mean i guess if that's a rule then i'm breaking it when it comes to basketball. (Not a laker fan sorry) You dont need to feel like you should support a team JUST because they're the hometown team or they're closest to your town. That's YOUR own personal choice. And its only sports lol

So try out different teams and see which one interests you the most and don't worry about what city they represent because really it doesn't matter.

I agree. I think it's dumb when people judge you if you don't necissarily live close to the team you're rooting for. I live closer to Sac-town, but I don't have to root for the Kings.

I also like the 49ers and S.F. Giants. But I live in Modesto, CA.

I say just root for whatever team you find exciting or fun to watch. And for liking a team from your state, I live in CA and hate all CA teams. I like Miami which is on the other side of the country
