The Stag and His Reflection example?

So I'm supposed to modernize one of Aesop's fables, the one I picked was the Stag and his Reflection, here it is. In the cool of the evening, a stag came into a clearing in the woods where there was a deep pool. He saw his reflection in the water. " How beautiful my antlers are, but my legs are thin and ugly!" The stag then heard some dogs and knew there were hunters following them. But as he ran his antlers became ensnared in the low branches. Using his legs he broke free of the trap. The moral is: We often despise the thing that might save us." I need a plot NOT involving animals. Any ideas? Thanks!
