The sims3 gardening truble?

I own the sims3 for xbox360 and know that I need seeds to plant, the thing is when I click on the seed it does not give my an option to plant them. I've been looking on google to find the answers but they all say just click the plant option. So right now I'm stuck it would be wonderful if someone could help
