Production Order: Season 20, Episode 10

Writers: J. Stewart Burns
Director: Michael Polcino

A new episode airs tonight at 8:00 PM Eastern. Here is the synopsis:

Ellen Page guest stars in tonight's episode.

I was really worried about this episode since the first act wasn't good after the Vitamin Water spoof (and for the first time, I felt like I was seeing FG style cutaways). Then the second act started and it's really good. I love how the Simpson children are fitting in to the school and Bart's "punishment" with the cops.

So far, I give it a B.

The scene at the treehouse was better than the story with Homer and Marge in the apartment. The other stuff like Alaska Nebraska's scene with Lisa was good.I give it a B- overall.

Let the backlash continue.

Vitamin Water? A Beverly Hills song parody?

WOW! These HIP and CURRENT references sure are what makes the show timeless and not look like it was written 3 years ago.

I was really hoping Bart was going to have Wiggum call him the "Infamous McKillin' or something, but the best part of this was the Havier Raheem guy from "No Country for Old Men". When he first appeared, I almost dropped my soda from a "WTF laugh."

(Was Alaska's line about dating a NBA point guard a Kobe Bryant reference?)

Overall, nothing too horrible, nor too great:

3.5/5, rounded to 4.

Does it really matter? Just enjoy the episode.

This is what bugs me about some of these fullscreen/widescreen debates. I watch a show if its good. I don't care what format it's in. If I watch a fullscreen show or movie, the first thing that comes to my head isnt "Oh my God, they cut off a piece of scenery no one cares about" or "There was originally an extra piece of grass in that shot!" like some of these widescreen buffs argue about.

Don't get me wrong, I'm for preserving movies or shows as they were originally intended to be seen, but is reformatting an episode really a big deal? It's not like you're watching the episode with them showing the characters from the neck down or anything.

When I see half of the screen cut off, it does, especially when it has text I am trying to read. Besides, if it was made in widescreen, it should be aired in widescreen regardless of whether it is a movie or a tv show. You don't see NBC airing Heroes in 4x3, or Star Wars Clone Wars being aired in 4x3, so why is Simpsons different?

Weird. Miley Cyrus and Ellen Page are complete opposites; the casting made little sense. Page is about twenty times more cool, though that goes without saying.

The Homer/Marge plot imploded once it became a cohabitation allegory. It made no SENSE.

In my area this aired in 16X9. If you got 4X3, anyone from your cable provider to your Fox affiliate could have been at fault. It wasn't Fox's doing.

I don't keep up with the lives of tweenyboppers, but I don't think so on either.

Alaska Nebraska was a spoof of Hannah Montana.

It would be better if Weird Al Yankovic sang "Waverly Hills" which is a spoof of Weezer's "Beverly Hills".

The scary part in the episode was Homer sleeping alone with the air conditioner sounding like a snake!
