Broadcast Order: Season 22, Episode 18
Production Order: Season 22, Episode 11

Writer: Matt Warburton
Director: Chris Clements

A new episode airs tonight at 8 PM Eastern. Here is the synopsis:

"Rio is a movie about a bird who's a fish-out-of-water. Kind of like the Simpsons were when they went to Rio."
"It was nine years ago..."
"IT'S STILL RELEVANT!"

...What happened to the opening? It just went right into the show.

Oh, wow, this episode I liked. There were some funny gags ("Just drop them!" "I can't, I don't know how!"), Nelson telling God he better not let Lisa die - which also doubles as an "awww" moment), Lisa was massively adorable (seeing her as a magician is so out-of-nowhere, yet appealing), and the ending was really heartfelt and genuine.

It does appear that the Simpsons have ensured that they received proper research when it comes to magic (with Teller of Penn and Teller fame as the magic consultant).

Homer attempting anything in the Zombie Simpsons era will always wind up with him being hurt in stupid ways. I want to yell at the writers: "Enough with the Homer abuse already--we KNOW he's the buffoon!".

Anyway, as the episode, after the stupid peach plot twist opening, this episode was fairly solid until the guest magicians showed up out of nowhere. After they were out of the picture, it paved the way to a cute ending.

Despite the usual time wasting jokes, I'd give this a 7.5/10, or a solid "B."

He's also been on Bob's Burgers and the Kung Fu Panda Christmas special. It's obvious McBrayer wants to break into voice acting (and he also makes his own cartoons).

Great episode. Best since "Homer the Father". The FOX descritpiton sounded liek the pe was REALLY messy, but it actually made sense. Chris Angel jab, haha. I really liked the Lisa plot, and it was nice that they stuck with the one plotline and didn't force a subplot.

Best jokes: Pop quiz!, Lisa thinking she was on alternate dimension, the crystal ball phone, Homer forcing Bart to spit more stuff (and forgeting wat was he doing), Lisa's d'oh!, Homer thinking of Flanders stealing his secret, David Copperfield, dude stealing Homer's coat, and Bart turning into Milhouse.

This was one of the better current episodes. The peach song was funny and kind of weird. I loved how Marge made them eat whole meals with nothing but peaches. I can't believe Lisa broke the magic rule of never reveal your secrets. I liked the guest appearances of David Copperfield and Penn and Teller. I enjoyed the ending when Raymondo taking that ether caused him to see his dead wife.
