"The Simpsons: The Complete Tenth Season" DVD Talkback (Spoilers)

I wouldn't be surprised if such a tribute is on season 11. I think that, with season 10's DVD, the entire crew was just really pressed for time, what with the Simpsons movie AND the series being worked on. It was evidenced by what seemed like a slightly lower-than-usual amount of special material and people either not being in the same room for commentaries (due to working on the movie from elsewhere) or people actually leaving mid-session to go work on it some more, like Al Jean.

During this season, there was a special short piece animated for the Super Bowl Pregame Show that took place in Moe's bar. It wasn't recycled animation with dubbed voices, it was a new scene. They forgot about it; now it seems the country will only see it once.

There was also new animated pieces for King of the Hill and Family Guy, and those made it to their respective DVDs. But not this one.

I've listened to all 23 commentaries, and I was kind of hoping that I could use them to gain some new insight into the episodes, like I did with Season 9. Unfortunately, that didn't happen much. Most of the commentaries this time around consist of tangentially related stories (some of which have already been told several times before), some quiet scuffling, and Mike Scully making fun of his Fun Facts. There's even one commentary where they run out of things to say, so they all just crunch potato chips into the microphone for about a minute. So as a result, I still hate "Homer Simpson in: Kidney Trouble", "Sunday, Cruddy Sunday", and "Make Room for Lisa".

Uh, I really hated this season, but it still has one of my favorite all time episodes in Mayored to the Mob(Luke be a Jedi tonight). Ah well, guess I got to buy it to complete the set.

Ok, I've understood the hate for the other two episodes, (Even though I like Kidney Trouble despite the ending and I like the subplot of Sunday) but what's with the hate for "Make Room For Lisa"? I don't really understand the criticism of this particular episode, even at nohomers, I've never seen anyone mention specific flaws.

Also, the commentaries feel rather messy, but I guess that's cause they were working on the movie at the time. It was funny to hear Mike Scully apologize for the ending of 'Monty Can't Buy Me Love'.

Side note, Matt Selman is pretty funny.

Not sure yet whether or not to get the DVD. This was among the show's worst seasons (along with 11, 17, and 18). Though there are some gems like THOH 9, I'm With Cupid, Mayored to the Mob, and Lisa Gets an A.

The general complaint is that Homer is annoying, unsympathetic, and unfunny throughout. People feel that, since Homer was the one who totally destroyed Lisa's room, he should have been the one to apologize to Lisa, rather than Lisa deciding she's been too hard on her dad.

according to the groening intro, this will be the final dvd release in Simpson Head format. Shame.. I was hoping for a Sideshow Bob casing. Oh well, back to boring square boxes I suppose.
