Not every country's stupid enough to stoop down to watching a straight woman using her "gaydar" to pick out a gay man from a group of straights. Oy.

I'd think that The Simpsons would sell well internationally. I don't think reality shows would have that appeal.
 
I don't get the appeal of reality shows in the first place, but I'd think that they'd have extremely limited rerun or syndication value. Whereas The Simpsons could be bringing in profits for a long time to come.
 
Geez, that's a scary thought! They totally deserve it though. I don't think FOX is durab enough to risk losing such a popular show. Of course, I live in Australia so I don't really know FOX

While Fox is being pretty adamant about avoiding a pay raise, it'd be ridiculous if they decided to save a few bucks (okay, a few million bucks when it comes down to the annual salary) when it involves losing a show as popular as Simpsons. It is the one show that, no matter what, draws in at least some viewers and is definitely better than the reality shows that dominate the station now.

But if it doesn't? The show might ...actually end. Gulp.
 
I don't blame them for going on strike. It's the longest running Fox show on air, and considering Fox probably makes a killing in merchandise and syndication, I think the actors should be duly compensated.
 
I don't blame them for wanting more money. The Simpsons is hugely successful and some of that should trickle down to the actors.
 
Wow, that's actually... kinda scary. I mean, I hope that they can reach an agreement without anyone getting bitter. Although, it seems Fox is pretty much willing to bend over backwarRAB for Matt Greoning and all those he works with. At least from what I've seen.

I'd say they're doing pretty well considering they don't need makeup or costumes, and they only show up twice a week. But still, I'd say if the show as a whole is making more, then they deserve more.

Several articles about this have been posted in the News Thread (yeah, it's all proper and capitalized and I expect you to go there), but I figured this was deserving of its own thread.

Basically, the cast of the show has gone on strike. For two table readings, the following cast merabers have been absent without notice: Dan Castellaneta (Homer, Krusty, Grandpa Simpson, Mayor Quiraby), Nancy Cartwright (Bart, Nelson, Ralph Wiggum), Julie Kavner (Marge, Selma, Patty), Yeardley Smith (Lisa), Hank Azaria (Moe, Apu, Chief Wiggum), and Harry Shearer (Mr. Burns, Ned Flanders, Principal Skinner).
