The Simpsons - "Love, Springfieldian Style" Talkback

Unfortunately, this is yet another one of those episodes where the writers wimp out of a real story and instead revert to the 'themed' tales based loosely on whatever scenario the family are stuck in.

I'm skipping the first two stories because, to be quite honest, there's nothing in them worth mentioning (save Jimbo at the dog pound). Instead, let's skip to Bart's take on Sid and Nancy.

Finally, Bart is somewhat acknowledged as the rebel people have been complaining about for years, and who better than as Johnny Rotten. While some plot points were a bit weak (the concert in Texas for instance), I have to say that I do enjoy seeing Lisa out of character, especially when she plays the bad girl. Nice touch with the chocolate thing (sorry Hershey fans, European chocolate really is better). As for the music, it was yet another reminder that I really need to buy a copy of The Sex Pistol's album.

However,

My thoughts exactly, was kinda expecting that seeing as it is The Simpsons, family show.

Highlight of the episode: CBGB - Comic Book Guy's Bar

I didn't expect much out of this. The first and third story didn't do much for me, but the second was quite solid with it's whimsical Disney-like art and the awfully cute Bart and Lisa puppies. Even Goofy about to be gassed to death was hilarious (wished they had left it as just that, that Disney quip he made at end wasn't funny), as well as the infamous spaghetti scene. This one alone doesn't pick up for the other two, but it's cute and I generally enjoyed it.

This was one of the weaker episodes of the season. The Lady and the Tramp parody was the best part, the cop out ending to the Sid and Nancy parody the most annoying part. Overall, I'd say 3/10.
