Broadcast Order: Season 21, Episode 23
Production Order: Season 21, Episode 15

Writers: Dan Greaney & Allen Glazier
Director: Steven Dean Moore

The season finale airs tonight at 8 PM Eastern. Here is the synopsis:

Ugh....not looking forward to this.

This is a glorified advertisement on how great Fox's 'biggest' franchises are, albeit combined together. Nothing more. Either the writer's think they're so damn 'clever' with episodes like this, or they think the audience is so stupid that the juxtaposed alignment of two show's that should've ended will guarantee a reaction of "Moe's the new Simon Cowel!!!!!LOLOLOLOL!!!!11!! He's such meanie!!!!11!!!"

I can't wait for the future seasons when Homer has a gluco-fluenizic keemer poso and he suddenly has "House" as a substitute doctor while Hibbert's participates in the latest hip-hop / rap / r&b trend. :ack:

I'm not looking too forward to this episode... The preview just seemed boring and bland. And Ellen looked kinda stupid.

Still, I hope they exceed my expectations, but after last week's ep. it'll hard to do so...

Seconded. This is worse than what they did a few weeks ago with that Kesha song. And it's the season finale, way to go Simpsons writers.

I guess my Wii is going to get a little extra attention tonight, with no Simpsons or Family Guy for me to watch.

I thought the kesha song was entertaining. I was laughing throughout the entire intro so it was good for me. The little in jokes and how they captured the personality of the characters in a humourous way was what made it funny for me.

Anyone else thinks that Fox is not really trying when it comes to competing against the finale of Lost, given the bland Simpsons episode, the weak start that the Cleveland Show has, and the fact that while it's going to be funny, most Family Guy viewers already have the season finale on DVD or Blu-Ray?

Horrible episode all around.
Mixed American Idol with The Simpsons what do yah get? Nothing.
Some funny lines, but that's all.
Thanks for that Fox.
You screwed us all with that. Should have stuck with BND as the finale.
At least it was a step up from tonights.
0 from me.

Great Episode :anime:
My favorite parts are The Puppet Couch Gag,Moe giving Lisa money in Homer's thoughts, and "Animation Domination,Live Action Surrender" XD

Hasn't American Idol been done on the show before? I remember Simon and Fantasia doing guest appearances before. And I thought that there was a singing competion during Fantasia's episode. I was dissapointed to hear that this was the season finale. I have a feeling that after how awesome the last three episodes were, this wouldn't live up to those episodes. I hope I'm wrong. But during the shows recent seasons, whenever they do an episode with a lot of guest stars, I usually don't enjoy them a lot.

I'm glad the entire American Idol judges and host Ryan Seacrest did guest voices, even FOX magistrate Robert Murdoch.

I'm surprised Lisa was offering BAND CANDY even in thought balloons!

Yes.

And it's a completely new development and nothing like this EVER happened in the early days. I mean, there certainly wasn't a full-episode Micahel Jackson suckup-fest as early as season 3, or a Critic crossover in season 6, or a "Hey, watch 'The X-Files' episode in seaosn 8, no sir.

Well, it could have been worse.

A few fun throwaway lines here and there. Not sure anyone, anywhere, ever was excited about seeing the American Idol judges on the show though.

Hey now, the Critic crossover was against Groening's wishes (though it's hard to imagine him refusing something like that now). I actually loved the Critic episode though, and it even took a few clever jabs at crossovers themselves.

But yeah, The Simpsons have never been strangers to these types of episodes, ever, the X-Files episode being case and point. It's not a symptom of the "new" Simpsons.
