The Simpsons - "Father Knows Worst" - Talkback [4/26]

That was actually pretty great. A LOT of good laughs - Homer's helicopter, Oscar Wilde ("Yeah dad, I saw him too."), the bar regulars acting like rats... good stuff.

This season really HAS been an upswing, hasn't it?

Pretty good episode. I especially liked Afro Marge and Homer's journey to the school cafeteria. I wonder if they'll mention the sauna ever again.

And wow, more people are coming forward saying they like Simpsons episodes. It's nice to see people on the internet finally paying attention to greatness.

Summary: B+

Wow, another excellent episode. Nothing beats The Simpsons when it's in top form.

Highlights:

1. The Homer Simpson School Lunch Diet. Why didn't anybody think of this before? Talk about rapid weight loss. Watch out, Atkins!

2. The "unsults", "spam with faint praise", and Moe's girlish hysterics.

3. Homer's struggle with the hobby shop door. (cringe) Haven't we all, from time to time, ignored a prominently displayed "Push" sign? :o Oh yes you have! :p

4. The Oscar Wilde gags. Especially the Tinker Bell sign-off. I laughed my head off.

5. And the excellent chorus at the show's end. "Wah-wah, bum de bum, beach ball, beach ball". Great!!!!

It's so good to see this show find its wit and heart again. Kudos to all involved! Thank you for making this anxious fan so happy!

WHY was this episode horribly formatted into 4x3????? The picture quality looked terrible, the audio was high pitched so that everything had an echo, and things that should not have been cut off, were. This was a fantastic episode ruined by piss poor broadcasting. Now I'll have to wait like 10 years to see it the way it should have been.

This episode remindse me of the line from "tropic thunder"...NEVER go full-retard, because the audience can't connect with your character. IMO, Homer was pretty much full retard here, almost at S10-S12 levels.

Are you kidding? This had about as much heart as Celeberty Deathmatch, but Celeberty Deathmatch was much more entertaining. :(

Anyway, I don't know if it's because I'm older, or more cynical, but when Homer's the star and acts like a screaming moron, I just can't enjoy the show. Nowadays, when Homer gets overstimulated/excited, he just isn't funny, period. When Homer was in line, I was wishing for Bart to go convict and crush his throat with his lunch tray. Don't even get mestarted on the "Hellicopter" impressioin Barf.

Even worse, Bart's scenes acting brain dead weren't funny at alll. The only good bits were Lisa trying to fit in.

1.5/5, rounded to 2, or a solid "D."

Well, this episode was great. I didn't watch the whole thing, but I watched enough parts that made me LOL hard.

Episode Highlights:
* The couch gag (epecially Homer drowning in the Olympic pool)
* Homer, Bart, and Lisa at the boardwalk just killed me.
-Homer making the juggler juggle Bart, Lisa, and himself.
-"Oooh, fire kabob!" That made me laugh really hard. (Especially when Bart gave Homer the lighter fluid.) :D
-Homer choking Bart and breathing fire FTW!!!
* Marge discovering the sauna
* The comedy writers in the school kitchen
* Homer in his underwear
* Homer's helicopter impression
* The Top Model refrence ("I only watched it once!")
* The credits with the choir humming the theme song...was totally out of left field.

Like I said, The Simpsons are really showing signs of improvement, and this episode is no different. 8/10
