This is a nice treat that FOX decided to do. I applaud them for this. I knew they were going to do this when I saw an ad for it during yesterday ballgame on FOX.
I'm watching it now. I remember the first time I saw it, my mom and I got into a discussion as to whether or not the "big white guy" was really voiced by Michael Jackson. I was pretty dead certain he was. Ha, ha, Mom! I was right!
Gee...that was kind of bittersweet, wasn't it? Now I feel sad.
The show hadn't even been on for two years and the animation of "Michael" moonwalking had fuller and infinitely more entertaining animation than anything seen in the show almost 20 years later.
That's right. A big laugh here, a big laugh there, with a bunch of hehs and chuckles covering the majority of the episode. As the show continued, the pace (and the quality) of the humor increased.
Good episode nevertheless. The pacing reminded me of something I could see in a good episode of King of the Hill.
If this is still about Marge's eyes, you need to change your name to Cyborg Frieza.
Apparently there was supposed to be a sequel to this episode involving Prince.
A year after the episode aired, the writers decided to make a sequel where Leon Kompowsky returns, thinking he is the musician Prince.[4] It was slated to air during the fifth season.[20] According to Mike Reiss, it was written by some freelance writers and polished by Conan O'Brien,[4]Bill Oakley says it was written by O'Brien.[20] According to Reiss, the plot of the episode saw Kompowsky/Prince manage to get everyone in the town to "loosen up, become more flamboyant and become more sexually open."[4] however,
The script was sent to Prince who agreed to voice the character and sent back a page of notes about what he would be wearing in various scenes. The writers were confused when the notes did not correspond to the script and they soon discovered that Prince was referring to a completely different script. Accounts of who wrote the script vary. According to Reiss it was just sent to him by someone,[4] Oakley says a friend of Prince's wrote it[20] and in an interview Matt Groening claimed Prince's chauffeur wrote it.[21] Prince hated the writers' script and demanded the other one be made into an episode, but the writers did not like it.[4] The episode eventually fell through and never made it past written form. It became one of the few completed scripts to never be produced.[4]
