The Simpson Movie (1 week till it's released)

Ive not posted here before but thought now was as good a time as any

Saw the simpsons movie last night and to be honest i was left a bit cold. Not because it was bad, but because it wasnt as good as i hoped. There were a few funny moments but they were more to do with characters being allowed to get away with things they cant do on tv (Homer flipping the bird / Bart naked skateboarding). But unfortunately there werent any proper LOL moments. Also, and i know this sounRAB strange, but the high polish to the animation didnt impress me. I just prefer the way it looks on tv.

This criticism is coming from someone who rarely goes to the cinema but had to make the trip out to see what I hoped would be a great movie.

I wish I had waited for a downloadable version to come out and then I wouldnt have felt so cheated. Totally gutted

This is possibly the saddest thing I have ever admitted to, but the enjoyment of the adverts and trailers is increased if you play 'guess the aRAB', as me and my brother sometimes do! First to identify the ad or trailer gets a point. Simple as that!

(I like the movie trailers anyway, though.)

I enjoyed it. Several laugh out loud moments and it was a great story. I loved the animation and I also adored that choral version of 'Spider Pig'. One of the funniest things I've ever heard so thumbs up to Hans Zimmer for that - it was just wonderful listening to Homer's lyrics in that kind of style. :D

yep that Empire Review is Sh*t

The film is amazing

I have never laughed so much in a Cinema
Never laughed so much at New Simpsons for about 10 years lol
Never walked out of a film wanting to go right back in and watch it again

Absolutely brilliant. The Jokes were consistent, not out and out Massive jokes, but good jokes consistently.

Loved it, ignore the reviews, go see it.
Its great

I personally do not rate "Empire" film magazine any more as a serious film review magazine. Why? Probably the whole six months of front covers of Star Wars.

Me too, I am a big Simpsons fan but didnt really think the film was that funny, got to say I was really disappointed :( people with me enjoyed it though, I dont remember the cinema laughing all the way through though so I dont think I was the only disappointed person in there and it was packed.

Anything with the pig in it was great (like when he first gets it and he can't stop himself from brushing it's hair in lots of different ways), but on the whole it was disappointing. Taking the story out of Springfield for a big chunk of time was a mistake because it meant that none of the other characters really got a look-in.

I almost went and saw the very first showing in Plymouth (00:01 this morning) but I had to be up early this morning, so im seeing it this afternoon/evening sometime (haven't decided which showing but there on every 20-40 minutes!)

Cant wait.

I'm a fan of The Simpsons and have watched pretty much every episode since it started on Sky all those years ago. I wasn't overly impressed with the movie though.
Sure the animation was great and there were some good jokes but I didn't think there were enough. Maybe i just didn't find all the ones they did have that funny? The storyline wasn't as good as it could have been and why introduce new characters when they have so many great ones that didn't get any screen time?
Before the movie came out I read that Milehouse gets the best lines but he barely says anything! Maybe it'll get better on repeated viewings but so far I just wasn't as impressed as I'd hoped. In comparison the South Park movie was much better as it took the tv show and expanded on it. I just dont think they done that with The Simpsons. It seemed just like a longer episode with better animation. Chief Wiggum eating donuts off his gun did make me laugh though!

Great Movie. It's just like the old, there are some "New Simpsons Gags" like Ralph's "I like men now" which are purely put their for laughs, and which i dont find funny.
But this movie was so much better than the new episodes.
And it's great to watch on the big screen!
I recommend it..:D

Loved it, thought it was excellent because the mix was perfect. They had virtually all the characters featured, humour and some emotional scenes, aswel as action (Homer and the motobike)

However I agree with what one person said about not showing enough of Springfield while they were in Alaska, they could have shown a lot more IMO.

Still, I thought the storyline was fantastic, starting with Lisa's campaign about the lake, Homer dropping the pig poo in etc. I liked how all the events were relevant and they built up to the main plot.
