The Shining Sequel.

Stephen King has stated he might write a sequel to his novel The Shining. It would focus on the Danny character who would be in his 40s and the emotional scars caused by his father and the hotel.

If the Book was to to adapted to the screen, Who would you want to be cast as Danny?

It would be good to see the return of Danny Lloyd who played the original Danny in the film but he hasn't acted in anything bar from The Shining (I think).

Any thoughts

Yes, I'd like to see him played by Angelina Jolie. He always felt he was really a woman trapped in a man's body and so had some corrective surgery. Besides which, the voices told him to do it. Seems ghosts have a sense of humour.

Here's the information for the proposed book sequel, with the title of Doctor Sleep

...Stephen King described to the audience an idea for a sequel novel to his 1977 novel The Shining. The story, King said, would follow the boy from the original novel, Danny Torrence, now in his forties, living in upstate New York, where he works as an orderly at a hospice and helps terminally ill patients pass away with the aid of some extraordinary powers

Later, on December 1, 2009, Stephen King posted a poll on his official website, asking visitors to vote for which book he should write next, Doctor Sleep or the next Dark Tower novel:

I mentioned two potential projects while I was on the road, one a new Mid-World book (not directly about Roland Deschain, but yes, he and his friend Cuthbert are in it, hunting a skin-man, which are what werewolves are called in that lost kingdom) and a sequel to The Shining called Doctor Sleep. Are you interested in reading either of these? If so, which one turns your dials more? [We] will be counting your votes (and of course it all means nothing if the muse doesn't speak)

On December 31, 2009, it was revealed that Doctor Sleep received 5861 votes, while the new Dark Tower novel received 5812.

:confused::rolleyes:

And here was me thinking it was one of the best horror films of all time made by one of the best film directors of all time, but it must be crap because only one person dies!? (two actually).

What horror films do you like out of curiosity?

The Shining is a brilliant example of psychological horror, it's showing the degeneration of one man's mind.

oops, long time since i nearly died of boredom watching it,

It was just far to long and went no wear for ages, for me there was no suspense, i ddin't feel anything for the characters but this is my opionion, ahha, i know alot of people really rate this film.

People say its scary as well, the wizard of oz is scarier.

i like most, halloween series is my favouraite but i can get into almost any film, and this film just didn't do anything for me. Some of my fav horrors are Evil Dead, Scream, Amatity ville (can't spell it) and Saw 2 (1, 3 , 4 ,5 and 6 were shit) hahah

You haven't read the book? You found the movie dull and boring? I find you incredibly ignorant.

You do not need intelligence when watching a movie like Saw, I guess.

whats wrong with not reading the book, people said it was agood film so i watched it, i haven;t read any of the harry potters but ive seen all the films.

Saw is probally a very confusing film and you need to think an awful lot about whats's happening, espically the first one is mea confusing and number 2 is atcully decent,

Stephen King hated the film version of The Shining, and I can understand why. They changed way too much and Jack Nicholson was a horrendously bad Jack Torrence.

There's another TV version of The Shining that King endorsed starring Steven Weber and Rebecca De Mornay that was miles better than the film!

you're kidding right? you think a more faithful, but terribly made (and terribly acted) TV version of 'The Shining' was better than the CLASSIC film by Stanley Kubrick?

who cares if Stephen King never liked it. he only didn't like it cos the story was changed somewhat (for the better in my opinion).

I'm not denying the Kubrick version is an ok horror film, but he shouldn't have called it The Shining - because it was not the story King wrote.

The TV version is much better written and acted than the film. Film Jack was a total nutter from the off who garnered no sympathy because he was having a great time trying to butcher his family - he looked like he didn't need the Overlook, he'd have got there anyway! And Wendy was a totally useless, screaming drip.

The TV version gave us a Jack who genuinely loved his family and was fighting the Overlook for all he was worth and a Wendy who was smart, strong and brave. Miniseries all the way!!
