The Secret Millionaire

I like the connection lady.

Dislike the way the millionaires dress up and go on about
"my business makes gazillions a year and i'm actually well successful"

I understood it to be the fact they were infested with mites and couldn't take the toys with them due to that. Although perhaps I'm wrong. I wondered where his wife went. His life must have been pretty good and then suddenly wham.

just watching it now on c4+1, can i just say liverpool IS NOT the most deprived area in england! there are some very beautiful and affluent places in liverpool, such as: woolton, calderstones, gateacre and childwall.

Thanks for the link. Had me in stitches reading it - talk about write as you speak. :D (I hasten to add that I'm not knocking regional dialect and phrases. Coming from north of the Thames, I stand guilty of both of those things myself.)

Regarding people clocking they're a millionaire..

I watched an episode with that guy from Chelsea or wherever, rich dude with a wife and kid at home. He splashed out like

I think I'm getting very cynical :o

I'm just not sure that these people haven't sussed the millionaires. I think that if they come back with another series, they need to consider some hidden cameras rather than a complete film crew. There can't be too many members of the public who now haven't heard about the gist of the programme!

Used to go on holiday there once or twice a year most years as a kid from a few months old (or close by such as Colwyn Bay Prestatyn etc). Used to have a great time.

I remember the small railway that ran through Ffrith Beach, that sadly hasn't been there for a long time.

It is such a shame the place has been left to run down.

Watching the programme I could see what looked like some of the places we would have stayed in now just fallen into disrepair. Forget the actual term that used to be used for what we stayed in, but they were self-catering flatlets. (Maybe that was what they were called back then too).

I do wish I had the money, I would love to help out and restore Rhyl back to its former glory.

I think they just give their first names in a lot of instances. When he called up the first place he visited he only gave his first name.

I think the producers of the show do the ground work with the intitial people he visits and probably brief them on his cover story. I think it's quite possible that a lot of the people really do think it's just a documentary. Documentaries do exist.. there are a lot more of them are out there than this show.

And not every millionaire is on google either. But does it really matter?

Perhaps she meant that they thought he was simply donating his time by volunteering but he has actually donated much more than they all thought he would by donating X amount of money.

That is indeed very sad and tragic, but on the TV programme she certainly gave me the impression that she had been left childless and I thought her
