The Secret Millionaire

Yes I can't wait for the episode where one of the streets says "Yo! Iz you a dude from dat millionaire wot you don't know aboutz fing?"

"But you iz though!, no but you iz...."

For the first time ever I thought it was obvious that these people knew who this guy was and they were such bad actors at the end - pretending they didn't know he was a millionaire - there was no real surprise or anything - just fake surprise, so I am starting to think that a lot of people are getting wise to this show. I mean there's been about 5 series of this, so if someone comes to your area, with a film crew, and say they're volunteers or something, then of course people are going to latch on that it could be the "Secret Millionaire". Also thought that he was really tight with his money - I mean,

True but it might not be as watched as you think.. I always felt the same about about The Real Hustle - surely you'd recognise their faces? But thats not always the case.

This episode did get me shedding tears. what a lovely man. As was pointed out in the show there are still some good people in the world despite what the media try to get us to believe.
Glad he didn't give money to the herion addict girl...we knolw where that would have gone.

Yeah, he is. Wasn't there somone in the first series who was the same age as him?

I can't believe they nicked that 21 year old's stuff. :eek::mad:

Yes it is. I thought he was ok. I think we're losing sight of what the programme is really about. It isn't a case of 'the more money they dish out the better the person'. They go in to the show with a set figure in mind and they give this to the people they feel will benefit the most.

A few people have compared Carl to the lady last week (I forget her name) and said he was stingey. Her company takes over a hundred million a year. She went into the show with a budget of

your right its no very nice at all there but there are still nice parts its just every time its on tv its always made out to be a dive when they should explore it more! if people invested in the prom then no one owuld really say it was a dive as the bit it has its name for is the bit that is bringing it down!

I really don't have a clue, but I think the law is that you need checks if you are working UNSUPERVISED with children.
As there were lots of people there, it wasn't unsupervised.

However, it is no big deal for the producers to get the millionaire checked and pay the cost.

I watched that property thing last night.
Plenty of paper millionaires who bought on credit carRAB who are now looking at huge debts.

Anyway back to the show.
Don't want to get into the RAB speculation game, look up not down and all that :)

Considering the millionaire looks not a world away from one of the homeless folk, he has done bloody well. I like the fact he is down to earth and 'real' as he seems to relate to street people.

Ive met the guy Richard, before!!! (probably not the best celeb spot in the world, but still)

MUCH better than last weeks!

Well, she's only lived here for 5 years so did her hubby live in Zambia with her and them both move here?

That website was interesting reading, we were wondering where her original money had come from? I'd like to be a property investor, but it's not as simple as popping down the shops and buying up a few places, is it! Someone has to be putting up the capital to start with.

And I agree, maybe she's not quite so rich anymore!

ETA: OK I just read her site properly and it explained her situation more clearly :)

This is series 3, and so far there have only ever been 16 episodes of this show shown over a period of 3 years. So I disagree that it's obvious to anyone that a filmed volunteer could be the secret millionaire. While there is a chance they might be rumbled I don't think it's blatently obvious.

Also not every episode is about the homeless. Not sure where you got that idea from. Infact I can't remember the last time they even featured homeless people. Last week it was ex miners struggling to make a society. Week before that it was a number of organisations including a foster home. You seem quite misinformed for someone who has such a strong opinion about the show in general.

Why do people find it so hard to understand that being a 'millionaire' in the context of this programme does not necessarily mean having a current account with millions in it?

Somebodies business could be worth
