To me it's Kansas' Dust in the Wind... I'm currently trying to figure out how to play it :)
I'll try to think of other songs, but this one was the first to come to my mind.

Any chance we could get a few explanations as to why these songs are depressing? I mean it's great to have an opinion but it makes it stand out so much better if you're able to give a few reasons to back it up. I'm not suggesting a small essay but just a few sentences explaining why?

Also don't just include a link to a Youtube video or Myspace listening link with the comment of "Just listen to it" because that's not really convincing at all.

I know they weren't written by Johnny Cash. It's just when he sings them...or talk sings them, it's very depressing. It's almost as if he knew what was coming.

Come on .. Eric Clapton's son dying at 4 and him making a song about it is sad (Tears in Heaven). John Martyn separating from his wife and being so torn up about it, playing the song he wrote about it decades later in his life still upsets him, that's sad (Hurt In Your Heart).

I mean, "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" is like colourful balloons and dancing fairies compared to that ;)

Just another excuse for me to post it for the 14,000th time and he's dead now (only last month) so it should start to gain more fans due to the fickle nature of the populace:

Storms - Fleetwood Mac
I'm On Fire - Springsteen (as seen in my sig)
Tired of You - Foo Fighters
As Long As I Can See The Light - CCR
Maybe - Janis Joplin
Bell Bottom Blues - Derek and the Dominos, I'd also say Layla, but it's so often confused with the notorious instrumental exit that's cut and put in films.
River of Tears - Eric Clapton
Into The Night (If I Could Fly...) - Benny Mardones
Crazy Baby - Joan Osborne
Tuesday's Gone - Skynrd
Love Reign O'er Me - the Who
Fire and Rain - James Taylor
