The Running Man (1987)

I used to watch this film all the time as a kid and thanks to Sky Anytime saw it again recently. I still love it.

It's has a good mix of action scenes and humour, even if some of Arnie's dry wit is almost worth groaning at. Richard Dawson is great as Killian.

So, yeah, I like this film, just wondered what other people's opinions were of it.

I've been told the book is even better, so I'm trying to hunt it out.
 
Arnie is at his laughable finest in this movie ! - I love it . . . .

Running Man is perfect for it's time, it's like a 1980's view of the future. The audience member getting a VCR as a spot prize for example.

I was thinking while watching it, the scene when Arnie is in the rocket being sent down to the game area, these days that would be simple computer graphics, but back in 1987, they are good effects for the time. I would love to know how they did it.
 
And also getting a Running Man board game - it'd be a wii, XBox or PS3 game nowadays - this was an age before games consoles became commonplace . . .
 
Yes the book is much better.

'Series 7: The Contenders' is more like the book, much more down to earth and based on reality than the sci fi of the Arnie film.

What it really needed was the future tech of the Arnie film but set in the real world rather than a stadium.
 
God i love this film, All Arnie films are great..I esp liked the song in Running Man at the end, Anyone know where i can get it from.,please :D
