The Ruger 1022 as a survival gun (for small game/defense) OR a 22 or .177 Air Rifle, (strictly for hunting)?

Have read A LOT on both of these fire arms. I know the Ruger is a safe bet- reliable, inexpensive, great reputation, Etc. I've owned (and own some 22's).

BUT, I can store about twice as many pellets for the price of a good 22LR box. Shooting subsonics (apparently) is quieter- making you less noticeable in a survival situation. (Don't want to draw a heck of a lot of attention when the sh!t starts.)

However, I'm unfamiliar with expensive air rifles and, to be honest, am reluctant to spend $250-$300 on an air rifle that can only put down rabbits. (A well-placed 22LR CAN put down larger game)

Does anyone on this site own a good air rifle? And if you do, is it as durable as the good 'ole Ruger 22LR?

Any info or experience would be helpful.

Thank you!
