W Woodie. Guest Mar 29, 2009 #2 Yes.Dig a semi-circle round one side of the tree,cut back the roots by about a third. Stake the tree,ensure it's well watered,repeat the process on the other side next Spring. Take care not to disturb the tap root and the tree should be fine.
