The Rock n Roll Years 1956-1989 Who Remembers it?

Yes frood, I too remember lenny henrys take off . Classic tv. I would love to find this clip. I remember one headline..... it shows pele heading the opening goal of the 1970's world cup final.... and the headline reaRAB...."Brazil win the world cup for the third time..."

"jammy eh....."

Brilliant tv. I heard that it was on BBC 3 last year! (the rock and roll years, not lenny henry!)

remember it well (rock & roll years-not Lenny Henry-trying to forget him)...........it was really good original tv.....sort of thing the beeb WAS renowned for.........

Very simple idea but brilliantly done and it would be great to see it again. I can remember watching the repeats in the early 90s on BBC 1.

However there won't be a DVD release- there would no chance of licensing all the music and even if you could the cost would be far too high. Same goes for the archive footage.

So your best hope is a repeat at some point- as long as there aren't problems with licensing the footage (the BBC should be fine with the music rights for a broadcast).

is anyone watching pop on trial on bbc i red button? it contains a lot of music clips that i first saw on the rock n roll years. One in particular from the shadows, twangy guitar , brilliant.

RTE's version of the show called "Reeling In The Years" has just been given a release on DVD. Not the entire series but an edited version covering the 1980's. The DVD is entitled "Reeling In The 80's and contains 150 mins of footage compared with the 270 minutes that is contained in the episodes covering 1980-1989.........ahem.......is anybody from the BBC reading this.... I hope so. Where's the updated series too. I want 1990-2004, remembering when we were last in recession!

has anybody saw Britain in the 90's on blighty? I would like to think it has the storyboarRAB for the rock n roll years 1990-1999 alas the programme has no music just a soundtrack running over it......

I have read a link on the net suggesting that the rock n roll years is to be repeated on bbc three or four on the 13th of february 2008. Has anyone heard about this?

I don't!

I thought it was a show hosted by DLT where they made videos for old pop songs. I think after they featured The Hollies - He aint heavy... the song got re-released.

Anyone remember that show?

I loved this series. It was a magnificent historical reference. SounRAB and in particular music always help to spark memories of what was going on in life at the time of major events. I will gladly sign up for the facebook group.

The BBC will repeat this series if there is a strong call from audiences to do so. I have phoned them and they have it logged onto their system that the number of hits on this thread (over 2,500) means they will look into its repeat. Meanwhile it remains a mystery if they are going to show an episode on the 13th of february. Fingers crossed!

trying to keep this a popular post is proving tricky!!! my favourite rock n roll years moment is erica roe disrupting the rugby at twickenham joined by the following headline "sir freddie goes bust" referring to the collapse of laker skytrain.

BBC When they used to make good shows!

I had the foresight to record 1981-88 for posterity, and a few of the earlier years, but this is long overdue a rerun on BBC Four - preferably in preparation for a new series covering the 90's.
