Robocop was easily one of my favourite movies growing up,Kurtwood smith was really good as Clarence Boddicker, one of the more memorable villains in movie history,i remember thinking the movie was very violent for its time, part 2 isnt near as good but it still has peter weller returning as murphy and i did enjoy the whole cain/nuke storyline, its on channel 5 sometimes and i always watch it,ive only seen the third movie i few time but i didnt like it as much, kinnda strange seeing someone else as robocop and the story wasnt too great,.

ps check out this really cool robocop rap lol

IMO...

RoboCop = A classic.

RoboCop 2 = Not great, but not shite.

RoboCop 3 = Awful.

Then of course there's also the cartoon (awful), the TV series (awful), & the TV movies (not seen them, but probably also awful!).

Loved the 1st one, 2nd was good and the 3rd while not amazing was ok and watchable and was nice to see that they removed the wires from the flying scene with the DVD release.
The tv series was a bit pants, but I did think it got better towarRAB the end of the series.
With the Prime Directives tv movies I did actually enjoy them, but did get annoyed with the guy that always seemed to be talking to what I think was a telescopic aerial most of the time.

I am now looking forward to see what they've done with the new movie and hope they give us a good one.

I remember seeing it at the time and thought WTF when Murphy's arm was pinned down and his hand blown off. Violence like that is ten-a-penny nowadays though and wouldn't shock so much

The BluRay Trilogy is coming out soon but will they finally give us Special Features for RoboCop 2 and 3 or just the barebones release like they did for the DVD?

Theres a damn good load of extra footage for RoboCop 2 at least and it deserves a special edition to fill in a lot of the plot gaps. I don't know what was cut from RoboCop 3 but at the very most a commentary or some interviews would be nice.

i was quite young when I saw the original, 9 or 10ish. and really fell in love with it. it was the talk of the school. And i remember renting it and watching it with an older neighbour who was babysitting me!!!!
"what does rape crises centre mean?" i always remember asking him!!
it was so funny. Very much like Paul Verahoven's other sci-fi romps - Total Recall and starship Troppers. with black comedy, hard hitting violence and tv adverts!!!!
The sequal came out with much praise from me and anticpation. it was an 18 at the cinema, so i had to wait a year after that to actually watch it. i remember my nan getting it for me for Christmas, and i really enjoyed it.

THe 3rd sadly was just terrible, a new actor for Robocop. and it just was rubbish.

and yes - someone mentioned getting a bootleg version of Robocop 4 - which was a tv movie. this happened to me also around 1995!!! from a mate as well.

I do want the new blurayu package, never bought them on DVD (actually, i did get the special edition of robocop - but it was damaged). but i REALLY hate the 3rd one. maybe a second viewing in over 18 years may change my view.

The Terminator V Robocop comic was very good, which was out years ago.

The Robocop films are three films you feel you just have to watch even after your mates have warned you that they get worse as you go along. It is like a right of passage that means after the third film is over you too can say to your other mates the same things you were told. But now you can say what you think as you too have made that grim journey from:
"Wow!"
"Woe!"
"What?"
