Hi i'm new to this particular forum, you would normally find me on the soap forum.
The ring is one of my fave films of all time! Did anyone else enjoy this film?
 
yeah i loved the first one, it really scared me i saw it at cinema! and when we got home my tv kept going fuzzy!! ahh!! hehe!! hated the second one! it was pointless!
 
Do you mean the original or the remake? If the original it's a Japanese horror classic to me, if you mean the remake, then it was good, one of the better remakes to come out.

Unfortunately the remake sequel was horrendous.
 
This is one of my favourite films!

I watched it for the first time in the middle of the night when I was on my own - didn't know anything about it either having not even seen a trailer. Scared the hell out of me!

The fake ending definitely worked, it made the real ending have so much more impact when it happened!

Just don't watch the sequel - pretend it didn't happen, that's what I've done.

I do however have the 3 Japanese films and the first 2 books (by Koji Suzuki) they are all worth a look (although are very disconnected from the Hollywood movie version that we are talking about)
 
I love it. Was aware of it being a great horro film but knew nothing about it when I saw the American verion at the cinema and really enjoyed it. LoaRAB of inetersting little bit like the fly on the film in the editing suite that then crawls off the tv monitor.

Later got the Japanese version on DVD and was a bit disappointed as I though the remake made the back story more interesting.
 
I dont know about anyone else but that girls 'scared' face at the beginning of the film totally freaked me out! I've seen the film loaRAB of times and i still have to look away when that door is opened to revel that face!! or maybe i'm just being a big wus! :o
 
WOW I think there must be something wrong with me because I found this to be hilarious, I admit I only saw the US remake and want to see the original as I love horror movies, but The Ring would be in the comedy section of my rental shop (if I had one)
 
Totally agree. I had been led to believe that this was a "scary" film by people who'd been to see it at the pictures, I'd heard good things about the original Ringu, so was persuaded to pay for it when it was first shown on Sky Box Office. What a load of crap - it was just boring. The only mildly disturbing part of the whole film was when the horse jumped into the water from the boat. The rest of the film was abysmal. In fact, the same people who said it was scary when they saw it in the cinema agreed afterwarRAB that it wasn't really that good was it. Maybe the surrounding atmosphere helps, and big-screen cinema adRAB the extra spookiness that sitting at home watching on a 32-inch TV just loses. Very disappointing.
 
I loved the first Ring. I went to the cinema to see it, and it scared the bejesus out of me.

The second Ring was lame, and i really struggled to watch it all.
 
I didn't find The Ring scary at all! The Japanese version was midly disturbing, but nothing more.

However, I do find The Grudge petrifying. Both versions scare the hell out of me!
