The Ring 2 - March 2005

I watched the Japanese version of the ring and the American one, and the American one was better. Why do people feel that they have to defend the original Japanese versions of films even though its blatently obvious that the remake is better. Its the same for the grudge too.

I cant believe you think The American version is better than the Japanese version as its much scarier and darker also the bit when she comes out of the tv looks so much better in the uncgi japanese version. I like both version but the Japanese one is easily better!

I agree, the Japanese version was superior because it was far more tense and creepy. The American version was packaged up to be more user friendly but it wasn't as good.

Yay, someone who agrees with me!!!!!!

I'm quite a big wimp, scared of ANYTHING (even Michael Jackson's Thriller video) and when I watched the japenese ring, I didn't feel any kind of scared or even creeped out, I could have easily watched it on my own, and thats saying something!! Me and my hubby were cracking up when it showed the 'contorted' faces of those who died after the 7 days. The american version had me on the edge of my seat the whole time, I felt the story was much better and honestly scared the pants off me! Oh, well each to their own I guess!!

To answer the question posed at the start of this thread, I'm afraid that I didn't feel that Ring Two was as good as the original American version and it certainly isn't a patch on any of the Japanese Ring films despite this one being directed by the original Japanese director. It certainly has enough scares in it to put it ahead of a film like Boogeyman but I would heartily recommend that you go back to the original films if you to maximise the scare factor. Sissy Spacek is good but is on screen for only a few minutes.

The Ring: CE will be released in the uk on the 28th March and will include an exclusive sixteen-minute short film entitled Rings.

Am I the only one who liked both the Japanese and American version of The Ring. They both were equally good. Ok, I thought that the Japanese version ruled because I saw that one first but after I watched the American version 3 times I saw what made it different and ultimately as good as Ring.

Don't have as higher hopes for The Ring 2... not saying it will be worse than Ring 2 but I still regard that as a good and balanced sequel. However the two films barely compare to Ring 0: Birthday... that is my favourite of the trilogy but I've yet to see the different versions of The Ring such as Rasen, Spiral etc.
