The Restaurant 2009

Well just as winky really!

One of the funniest things was the morning after the night before when Badger, Barney, Joe and Sarah went out to the West End together, you could put picture of Sarah in the dictionary as the definition of shell shocked!

I would have been FOH and might well have turned into Basil Faulty!:D but I have every confidence that my Chef could have cooked them out all outof the kitchen!

The first stage Interview cut out all the Big Brother type Wannabees, they took a few of us to one side to interview on camera who had good ideas, concepts, perhaps those who were a little entertaining and a combination of the three!

The only time the production team saw if any of us could actually cook was one of the tasks at the second stage audition when we where put in front of the cameras in the kitchen and asked to make an omlette.

All of us who made the final selection obviously had ideas about food or concepts of Restaurants but the big BUT is can those who are now on, walk their talk and actual do it...

:( utterly astounded :(:(
Seems the citerior for winning The Restaurant is an ability to blag and bodge over and above anything else! If that's the basis for running a successful business these days then I'm speechless!
What was the point of tonights cook-off episode? Nathan and Chris clearly had a better day, so why didn't they win? In my opinion JJ and James should have gone out very early on in the competition due to an inabilty on JJ's behalf to actually be able to cook a meal. His heart just isn't in it and he has no passion for cooking! I would be interested to know if he actually does any of the cooking in their restaurant now or have they just bought in chefs to do the work? And their concept was dreadful! None of the customers seemed to get it. It seemed to me that they seemed happiest when making and serving cocktails. Maybe they should open a cocktail bar??? Oh wait....!

I work for Maison Blanc and he came in at the weekend. His accent is so strong, and he still managed to sound sexy while complaining about everything he ate! :p

Never watched The Restaurant before so looking forward to it tonight!

I think saying to the producers 'I don't really care if people think I'm an idiot or cool.... It's idiots who think I'm cool that I worry about!' that might have sealed our fate!

I was well aware by that stage that we were TV fodder rather than just foodies with ideas! Editorial strain was showing a little now I look back on the final selection!

But it WAS their problem that THEY flunked the cookery class completely.

See above - and RB turned a blind eye. Selective application of rules to get rid of others, selective non-application of rules to keep the Winkers.

Quite - I went to Le Manoir with my dining club a while ago. It was the best meal I've ever had, and we were thinking about booking again for Spring next year. Now I'm having second thoughts about spending another

He was upset he made a mistake on the cups.
I think he was told he couldn't buy new cups for the soup and had to make do. He likes to be in control and strives for perfection is my take on it.

And as they chucked out

The mother and son - who could neither explain the concept nor even a name for their restaurant

D'Soiree - for ditching their Nigerian theme

- and none for poor cooking

... concept rulz, OK?

IMO worst series so far.

Not one of them has got a clue, either on cooking or managing.

Bunch of people randomly selected to fill in this series.

This is not what made me look forward to the new series of The Restaurant for & I'm sure if the producers carry on in this format which is more of a soap without any talents involved then I hope this gets axed or RB quits.

I think that is borne out by the tasks which were mostly designed for people to fail - JJ and James did most of them badly, but it was their enthusiasm, self-belief and mutual support that pulled them through.
