The Restaurant 2009

Welcome to the thread:cool:

I think we are all trying to get used to the new format, not least being the reduction from 2 hours a week to one. As we lost 2 couples last week there will be one week when we do not lose somebody. I suspect that will be next week when the remaining 6 couples open their restaurants. It is possible that we still have a shallange but it may be scaled down, or within the restaurant, or even at the beginning of the following week's programme. Time will tell.

Like someone else mentioned earlier, its VERY telling that the two couples who were in the final did not appear on BBC Breakfast (as per past series)....they always used to be on the show with RB in the countdown (even though they clearly knew who had won).

Also James and JJ didnt appear on today's programme. Very unusual for (what used to be) a very popular programme. No mention it on the Breakfast show at all today (at least the bit I saw) which to me speaks volumes.

Most definitely.

Don't get me wrong, I love rabbits and don't eat meat. But one of the cruelest sights I ever saw growing up in the countryside was Mixy infected rabbits.

Shooting is far better than that any day. If I saw a mixy rabbit, even I had to steel myself (or if I was with a male friend :o them) up to give it a swift rap to the back of the head. Kindest thing for the poor thing and the nearby rabbit population.

She doesn't have to be such a rude sneery bitch though.

Hasn't she heard of "constructive criticism" instead of being a permanent human rolleyes frowney?

I disagree. She is doing well so far. She overcame her raw fish phobia and will already be good with people as she is an estate agent. Plus they'll always work well together, very solid relationship. I have high hopes for them.

Go Rebecca & Steve.

Just had a rant over there too!
And on Blanc's site!

I don't think any of the contestants were viable winners despite some being competant chefs. I just do not understand why the producers chose such a poor group in the first place!

Hate consipiracy theories but this does stink of being a set-up! Am beginning to wonder if it was realised about half way through the series that there were real problems with the contestants because, until then, the Winkers had received very negative comments from Blanc and his cronies about their inability to cook! This all seemed to change with the negative comments being redirected towarRAB the other contestants. The concept of 'picnic dining' also seemed to disappear never to be mentioned again.

Perhaps Blanc realised the only way out was to 'invest' in an existing business as the easy way out. (and why should they be there in the first place as they have an existing business already serving food!!)

I don't think many of us would argue with his decision if had said that he was not opening a restaurant with any of them!

Surely there will be an addition in next years Michelin Guide:
"Beware! Mr Blanc has made a disastrous decision in The Restaurant series 3. Take this into account if you're planning to dine at Le Manoir." :D

Can't see that happen and I think this whole sorry affair will not hurt mr Blanc and his various businesses.
