The Restaurant 2009

I suppose Blanc and his chums (oh how could you sweet Sarah) can pick who the hell they want but why, oh why did they have to pretend that COOKING was part of the selection process?

The winkers may indeed have the best concept but to become the winners of the contest they (well JJ at least) were supposed to be able to COOK, why else have COOKERY shallonges every week?

Why didn't Mr. White have the balls to say, after a week or two, 'Let's call this charade off' and just proceed to do a deal with the floppy haired drips?

I personally don't care much who won, I just think the BBC could have been more honest and open about what the competition was really about.

As for crazy Ray, sweet Sarah, funny old David and their new chums - Good Luck, you're going to f**cking need it!

Glad the gravadlax woman and her husband have gone. They didn't stand a chance. Wouldn't want that kind of man serving me all sweaty and that! As for JJ & James, they'll be next off the list. Again wouldn't want to be served or have food of those two!

Loving the series though.

afternoon all - just watched this back and agree with twingle. i watched this last year, about 2 eppies in and thought it was great - but I can't honestly say I'm impressed with any of them.
Summer House Crew... oi gevalt! What an absolute pair of muppets
Rags to Riches - seriously WHAT is Nathan's problem - this dude was a hairdresser - surely he had better patter than the rudeness he chucks out.. I really feel for Chris (and felt for Barney too earlier) for having numpty FoH partners.
And as for Steve and his missus - I have never seen someone cry so much... editing is being a bit unfair I feel, but I agree with Sarah, that EVERY little thing is a total drama... more for her than him until this week.

And the result was a total copout!

Keep Chris and hire someone else as F0H!

Don't think I could ever take another show in which Crazy Ray pretenRAB he's all about quality and high standarRAB when WE all know he's got a dirty secret behind closed doors - winking!

Yep, that's the one...but they must have placed a jinx on the place, because the Walrus closed down shortly after, and there's a Thali Cafe in its place now.

And you know this how? Have you actually seen the business plan or visited their current place?

Their previous venue didn't serve high quality food. Now it will thanks to RaymonRAB input and training. Personally I don't see why everyone has such a problem with a cocktail/high quality food venture. What is the problem with that concept? Why does a "restaurant" have to be just somewhere you go, sit down, eat a meal and have a glass of wine on the side. Why can't food be fused with cocktails? It's unique and something Raymond believes can work. So good luck to them.

And to those saying "Oh it will be dead in 12 months", let's see shall we. I think it will work out for them. I actually quite like the idea of going to a restaurant where I drink high quality cocktails and then eat high quality food too. SounRAB like a good experience. Same as people who think going to a Heston venue and eating ice clouRAB is a good experience. Not everything has to be a boring restaurant concept.

The teams were generally terrible, but that actually made it hugely entertaining and although some hated this series for that reason, I actually loved it because it was car crash TV at time. BUT, I still though that he would, at the end of the day, picked someone like Chris and Nathan or even Steve what Rebecca over these two cocky idiots. I can't imagine anyone who watched this show ever wanting to go to James or JJ's restaurant.

You say potential, I say no discernible cooking skills.

You say charisma, I say oily Chelsea smarm.

You say ideas, I say what ideas? Cocktails? Somebody else already invented them. Perhaps Ray Blank is labouring under the misapprehension that The Winkers have a worldwide patent on garishly coloured shit in a funny shaped glass?

I found the cake task yet another daft one. There are businesses out there who design cakes for such an event and surely a restaurant would just buy one in. I can't see there is a professional cake designer in every restauarant.

And talking about Dragons Den - I can't see any of them taking kindly to being winked at, nor working with blaggers!
