I don't think strict objective scoring is necessary but some of the subjective side needed explanation if viewers were to accept the final decision.
I got tired of Crazy Ray (and the scripted voice over) banging on about passion and quality and standarRAB and service when what he apparently wanted was someone with a good business proposition and some experience to back it up above all else. He let JJ get away with murder (especially in the final) and turned a blind eye to Mr. Smarm's monumental porkies.
Crazy Ray lost a lot of credibility as a serious foodie (something that I am sure is important to him) with this cobbled together piece of tat masquerading as an authentic way to choose a business partner.
I agree that honesty in editing such programming is very important and it seems odd that the producers of this show cocked it up so badly. You'd think the BBC would know better by now but no, they still treat the people that fund them as morons.
At the end of the day, it's down to the BBC and Crazy Ray for screwing up a popular and well regarded franchise.
Like many others I'll read with interest Crazy Ray's blog, if and when he ever updates it.
