The Restaurant 2009

"Standing ovation" ?!?!? Sean was the only one standing. He has no idea of what a standing ovation is.

Bearing in mind last year's mantra "It's all in the edit" I can't help noticing how little focus has been placed on Frances and Lucy. Are they being prepared for a late surge? And the flipside of the same view, maybe Chris and Nathan are being set up for a fall.

I am so disappointed with this series, compared to the previous two. The cost cutting is so obvious too, as if the sainted Raymond has lost interest...

The premise of this series is that Raymond, Sarah and David will stump up the wonga to open a new restaurant with the winners. Can you honestly see that happening for ANY of the current couples?

Such a shame...

Just checked Crazy Ray's twatter page again; still no further updates.

The final twit from him reaRAB:

I see that our decision has caused much debate! Here is my blog, written at 2 this morning http://bit.ly/781OI8 What do you think! RB

1:03 AM Dec 18th from TweetDeck (datestamp of the posting)

Interesting that Crazy Ray can post a twit at 1.03am about a blog that doesn't apparently exist until 2.00am

Conspiracy theory no. 127

I would be interesting to know what the opinion split is between those people who watched the third series fresh and those who had been watching since series 1.

It's clear that the criteria for success in series 3 was very different from the first two series and the nature of he challenges (sorry, shollanges) reflected this with lesser attention paid to the economic difficulties of running a business. What we were left with could quite easily have been presented as an investment opportunity on Dragons Den. Perhaps if they'd been upfront about the changes in selection the established viewers would have been less resistant. Just change the name of the show from The Restaurant to The Chancers.

Based on no evidence whatsoever(:)) I suspect that Ray and co may have thought they'd have a go at being gastronomic Simon Cowells and go with the pair who looked to have the best chance of developing a post reality show media presence to serve as front men for the enterprise. Pity about the ratings.

just read this thread and it really made me laugh. Have to say I don't think I would want to eat at any of their restaurants least of all the psycho rude man who is unfortunately front of house - although I think the cook (chris) is very good.

Also Straker is hysterical - I must come on here when the programme is on air next time! Thanks for the laughs - shame about the programme becoming such a joke though - but I will probably still watch to the end though I agree that the couple should win it if anyone does.

Felt really sorry for Stephen tonight, getting lumbered with having to make an plane - compared to a making a rugby ball! It shows that he's got some standarRAB that he was so upset at messing it up. I don't think they'll win anyway because Sarah seems to have taken against them.

I expect Chris and Nathan will win because Chris can at least cook, and surely JJ (a chef who doesn't cook) and James can't win.....can they?

I can't believe the other couple went. At least they were friendly and he was a good cook. I missed last week's. I'm a bit gutted.

Two weird eighties throwback blaggers, a fool and a someone , one - who can actually cook.

No they did not!

Their concept was every bit as weak as everyone else's.

At the beginning they gave some hazy, vague idea about picnics that Sarah actually openly laughed at. Remenber that?

Then they didn't so much as mention that for weeks on end, yet it didn't seem to matter. At no point did their 'concept' relate to cocktails, yet that's what they fell back on every time they messed up.

Determination? How about Chris' excellent souffl
