The Restaurant 2009

Very disappointed in that last episode of the Restaurant. Why did they cut out one of the most interesting aspect of the show i.e the interview of each of the couples at the end. Again I cannot fathom why Raymond got rid of the two girls who were way better then most.

You can bet any money that Raymond and his two cohorts will never go into partnership with those two from the cocktail bar, nor the two fatties, nor the couple and their Nigerian theme.

Last years couples were infinitely better then this very poor group and no way would I form a partnership with any of them.

Why oh why must every programme on tv be changed for the worst?? Bring back the couple interview at the end.

Seeing JJ last week when at last he got the chance to incorporate cocktails in the Singles Night task, just underlined that he has a USP, which obviously isn't preparing food. If RB is serious about ze Picnic Food conzept, then I'd have thought the winkers out in front, with somebody/anybody with a City & GuilRAB actually doing the minimal amount of cooking in the kitchen, and it would have a fighting chance.

The best thing about this whole series have been Buck's posts...that in mind has he only posted part 1 of the final ep?

As for the result I could not believe it, but at the end of the day its not my money they are investing and all the couples had flaws.. I wanted the twins to win.

i'm sure she's gutted...:D

you've got to love the irony of James (arguably the best cook ever to appear on the show) not winning last year when JJ did this time around though!:D

anyone else had this reply ?

Thank you for your e-mail regarding 'The Restaurant' broadcast on 17 December.

'The Restaurant' is a competition and as such adheres to the BBC guidelines governing competitions.

The decision to pick JJ and James as the winners was made by Sarah Willingham, Raymond Blanc and David Moore. The three partners were looking for a broad range of skills, not just the ability to cook. The series is an open competition offering ordinary people the chance to open a restaurant and the judges are looking for potential they can develop.

JJ and James were picked as the winners of 'The Restaurant' for reasons shown in the programme; the judges liked their ability to think on their feet, their work ethic and their concept.

We'd like to assure you that we've registered your comments on our audience log. This is the internal report of audience feedback which we compile daily for all programme makers and commissioning executives within the BBC, and also their senior management. It ensures that your points, and all other comments we receive, are circulated and considered across the BBC.

Thank you once again for taking the trouble to share your views with us.

I have a terrible memory, but wasn't JJ and James concept for their restaurant always 'Picnic style food that you share' - cocktails didn't come into it, that was their area of expertise and where they came from but it wasn't their concept for this restaurant. It seems like the show rewrote history a little there in order to justify them winning it.

I also seem to recall most of the judges completely slating their picnic concept in the earlier episodes.

Spooky, that's exactly what I thought.
Unless you're a champion pastry chef, it's nearly impossible to make a plane shaped cake.
I laughed for minutes when they showed the close-ups of the cake. It looked made of plasticine by a 5 year old.

I'm not sure if I'm going to watch the next episode. It's quite clear now concept is most important. We all know which couple has the best concept*. And I don't want to see those two plonkers win.

* Not my opinion but that of the gastronomic trio.

But the Winkers' so-called chef couldn't cook at all

How different that response is, weasel-worded as usual, compared to the frank response of RT: "many viewers thought the series was a duffer".

parthena

Well having done a couple of cookery courses at Manoir at quite a price, I have lost all faith in RB, obviously all we learnt was crap and unnecessary. What a waste of money!!!!
