The Restaurant 2009

Fantastic follow-up to the prog to catch up on this thread. hilarious observations. what a shower of contestants though  will never understand how you could possibly be so underprepared ! it was as if half of them hadn't even tried cooking their dishes before so how on earth they could possibly be their "signature dish" beats me! the knife moments i couldnt bear to watch. floppy haired guys are going to be entertaining at least - they might break a nail or anything, in that busy kitchen next week... girls who cant cook peas?! ... couple who were genius at opening packets ... identical couple... yes it all looks promising. It's hard to see any of the couples putting a serious case together though  the army guys looked pretty serious the one looked like he would harm the other one if he didnt cook it well  suppose the two guys from south london "champagne on a lemonade budget:confused:" could be contenders cus still got a decent plate of food out despite the pastry disaster.

I didn't say, and don't think it does at all, and maybe that's part of the reason for the criticism of the show. Maybe RB's site launch just means RB wanted to put all his energy into his own site, rather than having to write for the BBC too? Or maybe the BBC didn't have the time / money for as much support this time?

I was so totally gobsmacked (but somehow not surprised) at this decision that I had to register on this forum to add my two pennies worth to the heap of brown sticky stuff that is forming over this whole sorry debacle.

The look on Chris's face when the result was announced was the highlight of the show - if looks could kill there would be a triple homicide on the front covers of the papers today! Yes, Nathan let him down, but Nathan came good at the end, still a rough diamond, but polishable.

I snorted into my coffee when I read RB's comment about Chris falling at the last hurdle, I have never in my life read so much drivel in my life, and, quite frankly, it is insulting not only to Chris, but to every other person on this planet.

Some posters have remarked that the Winkers (I take it that the I is replacing the first letter in the alphabet in this case) showed good business skills and so on. The way I see it is that whatever business they are associated with now will suffer as a result of their arrogance, ignorance and downright lying. RB has shot himself in the foot, not with a dinky little pistol, but with a 10 ton Challenger tank loaded with armour piercing shells.

I actually hope there is another series, but perhaps with another chef, someone who does care about the food and the presentation. How about Colonel Sanders?

I don't get the hate for Nathan, he was a c*** for one show and personally I saw that as an aggressive reaction to his shortcomings being there for everyone to see. Everyone reacts by trying to protect their dignity, but I really feel he did try to change things.

Personally I find James a bit swarmy, I'm sure he would provide good service but I doubt I would ever think wow this guy is charming.

I think the ONLY SENSIBLE EXPLANATION for the insane outcome on the Restaurant is that when Raymond was winked at a spell was cast and the cocktail boys could get away with everything (I can't remember who wrote this or on which board - sadly, not me).

That's what I mean, I thought the winkers were the worst yet because they make good entertainment they get saved. All these reality tv shows always feel slightly fixed to me and the Restaurant is no different.

I'm still addicted to watching it though lol

Thing is Raymond has his own fixed ideas about food and wouldn't want to go in to business with anyone that might pipe up and say "hang on there a mo' I like what you a saying but there may be a slightly different way of doing that!" and likes to promote his 'Je suis p

Wow!!! That was a surprise! Someone out right now!

He's a braver person than I am for tasting that coconut stuff. It was best to get rid of them if they were using knives like that- their restaurant insurance would have been through the roof! Definitely in their best interests to be booted now, methinks.
