The Restaurant 2009

I remember that but I am sure Raymond answered along the lines of he liked their concept  It was when they were sitting round the table doing their summing up thing?

My blood ran cold at that.

Somebody mada a good comment on the BBC food & drink board.......why did James and JJ "happen" to have their cocktail-making equipment there? Its not as if cocktails were part of brief!

Makes you wonder if they always knew they would cock up and need to put Plan B into practice...

I'm not French and I didn't understand their concept. :D

They weren't even clear on wanting to be a vegetarian restaurant, they instead wanted to hedge their bets.

Personally I think that "The Restaurant" has run its course. Unless you change the concept radically I can't see that Michel Roux would be interested since the basic premise was that RB would be a partner in the new restaurant to be opened by the winners. I think that Michel is an excellent judge for Masterchef Professional, but I can't see him getting involved with the sort of rank amateurs they have in The Restaurant.

The format of the show was changed so that you only had 1 episode a week instead of 2.

So, previous series 2 couples were nominated and had to do a challenge and the 2nd episode of the week was the challenge and one of them getting fired. This series, there was no challenge - they just got fired.

Also, the placing of the restuarants and who got what really wasn't random - the couple doing dishes from Ghana got their restuarant slap bang in the middle of the largest afro-american area of Bristol, the 'Winkers' (who eventually won) got a restuarant that was very suitable for them as well.

But the main problem was that the 2 who won actually couldn't cook! They won on their personality but not on their actual restuarant management skills.

Yes it's difficult to judge when the only thing we have to judge them on is the level of incompetence!

All lazy with a twist of not cooking.

and a "never wot not we ain't not even never" from simple Nathan!

how can it even be good news for raymond's lot?

i would never go near a place where jj could have come in any kind of contact with food i was to eat. or drink for that matter

I agree. I keep thinking there has got to be a brilliant twist at the end that none of the posters on this forum have thought of. But I fear it is just wishful thinking on my part, and the Winkers will win. As someone else has rightly said, this is doing RB's reputation no good at all.
