The Restaurant 2009

My theory is that their decision is all about marketing. JJ and James catch people's attention more, basically. Standing out is better than being competent but relatively boring and indistinguishable in the competitive market of restaurants.

I don't see how all the contestants fit in with each other at the moment, already a diverse bunch! the others in reserve could have made it better... can't speak about their cookery skills or concepts (well one pairing were very good!:p) but they were...

A young scottish couple who both worked front of house in London hotels.
Vegan FrienRAB.
Eccentric sisters who ran an 'underground' restaurant.
A legal couple. (who probably dropped out as soon as they saw the contract!)
Caribbean Londoners, mother and daughter.
Gay couple one of who ran a micro brewery other in conflict resolution!?.

Well the Beeb Producers made their choices now we have what we have!
 
No, he did actually bake it, but reluctantly because the rules were each chef had to make their own cake. I think his sous chef pretty much talked him through it step by step though ....

Loved the bit when the woman at the tea dance said she was scared of Nathan :D He does look like he wants to stab half the customers ...

I thought Rebecca and Stephen were under rated this week, they did a good job at the tea dance with their own made cakes and didn't get a mention from sarah and David.

As you say, all of the premises used for the competition are only hired for the filming and this question comes up every time.
As it happens last year's winners have opened in one of the places used for the programme, but that is simply a coincidence.
 
Yes there were several better Front of Houses than the lesser spotted Winker, such as Badger and Rebecca. Chris was robbed, but at least he emerges with dignity unlike Blanc, Sarah, the Winkers and the production company. Not that much sympathy for Nathan, but he was probably edited to make him look worse than he was.

Yes, I noticed that too. Cabot Circus has a lot of passsing trade, but the Harbourside is rather off the beaten track so they must have used some kind of incentive to get people down there.
