The Restaurant 2009

Maybe, just maybe, Raymond, Sarah and David literally changed their mind once the wheels of production were in motion? Maybe they abandoned the idea of a food restaurant and decided instead to use the show's franchise as a promotional piece for a new Cocktail Bar venture they are going to start up, sponsoring it out of the license fee purse?

I can see how that might seem appealing (MPs and bankers have shown worse public contempt). I can't see the BBC agreeing to a cocktail bar show being based on The Restaurant myself, but who knows?

Bottom line: I just can't think of why else the three arbiters abandoned their good judgement demonstrated in series 1 & 2, throwing apparent good sense out of the window, deciding instead that "can't cook", smarm and BS were more important qualities than cookery skills, warmth and passion for a job well done.

One of the couples - Janet and Sean (still together after 38 years)- have a website with blog:

As for the rest, last year I found the Father/Daughter team rather sad. This year we have Mother and Daughter and Mother and Son teams. Hmmm. Will they do any better?

As for the rest we have married couple Rebecca and Stephen and five teams of frienRAB - 3 male, 2 female.

Daisy and Nadine promise us "pounded yam". Will that be this year's Mango whizz?

Hi all, just registered to forum but was a lurked on series 2.
Like many on here I was initially annoyed by result of final show but now think it is down to change in format to which we were not made aware of till end of the series that has caused the upset.

A few points:

I was thinking that eventually the picnic boys would be found out and dealt with accordingly. As it ended up this never came about and I suspect this added to my annoyance. I now wonder if this makes me similar to Romans watching the gladiators and it being settled by tossing a coin but I think others probably feel the same.

I can't be the only one to draw comparrions to my work environment where this goes on : blaggers succeed in place of hard work. The last challenge and result seemed to highlight this as the norm.

I suppose some folks are attract luck and opportunity. These attributes can not be overlooked in choosing business partners and in that respect perhaps the better tea
won. Still doesn't make the result and wider context any easier to take though!

Are we not supposed to get worked up about what our licence fee is spent on then? Can we only comment on things of "life or death import"? Can we not be angry when it is obvious that we have been taken for a ride? Who decides what is and isn't important in our lives? You????

Maybe there are those of us who have standarRAB of honesty and decency. Maybe we are trying to pass on those standarRAB to the next generation. Maybe RB has trashed that.

Get real! TV is a huge part, and influence, in our lives, and has a huge responsibility.
