The Restaurant 2009

I agree, as others have said all of this lot would've been gone by now if they'd been in last years show but the winkers make "Good TV" so they'll be there till the end. I'll watch it till the end because it's become car crash tv but someone stanRAB to lose a shed load of money if they go into business with these muppets.:(

I hadn't spotted that. Wonder what the intros to Series 1 and 2 actually said. Interesting.

It does seem odd that no one has actually been thrown off for bad cooking. Mental fragility, naive or non-existent business sense, and general cluelessness seem to get couples the heave-ho this time around.

Hope there is a sinister RB twist in store next week which will explain all. I love a good conspiracy. :D

Quite agree. Why would anyone in their right mind consider putting their money at risk with a pair who have, on the evidence of what we have been shown, continually sailed so close to the very outer boundaries of honesty? If they are really as unethical as the programme suggests then I for one wouldn't touch them with a bargepole.

As for Stephen and Rebecca: unfortunately they haven't demonstrated enough creativity and imagination to make it all the way. Stephen should have realised that he hadn't a hope in hell of making the aeroplane-shaped cake in the time available, and been a bit more creative like the woman told him to be. A straightforward rectangular cake iced to look like a runway and with the model that they had been given sat on it in a taking off pose would have been fine. As a team all that Stephen and Rebecca seem to do is to reinforce each other's negativity. Rather than sympathising with Stephen when he bottled the presentation, Rebecca should have done what RB did and given him the support and motivation to overcome his fears. They both kept saying how much they wanted to win, but when things got a bit difficult they let each other down.

What is most disappointing to me from this series is that we have no idea of how each restaurant has been doing financially. The conspiracy theorist in me wonders whether that could be because they've all been disastrous, but revealing that would have given the game away about what a set of wasters RB and his pals have been lumbered with this year!

In previous years I have loved this show. At least the contestants had to work hard and week by week we could see who was improving. But this year it is so dumbed down and dire, I am not bothered about the programme much. As previous posters have rightly said, there is no challenge - which dilutes it. We see little of the prepared food - which dilutes it. There are no couples who are potentially excellent - which dilutes it.

I feel sorry for Raymond Blanc if, as previous posters say, he had no idea who he was getting. And if it is to be truly believed that Raymond, Sarah and David will invest their own money in the winning couple - well, would you put your own money on backing any of these?

My granny used to peel a potato in one long strip and leave the peeling in a too-salty gravy for 10 minutes. I'm not sure whether she used the peel for reasons of parsimony or because the mud also helped to damp down the saltiness.

I was bemused by the attitude of the army non-cooking bloke. Was he confusing front-of-house with being a nightclub bouncer?

This series is an insult to Tatty and The Gimp and their heroic efforts last year. The dynamic dungeon-dwellers must be aghast at what the show has become and I

I'm actually embarrassed for everyone involved in this year's cringeworthy effort, and I really hope they don't waste license fee payers money on a fourth series.

Sniff ... I really liked series one and two too.

I am one of the contestants from this years show.

Your threaRAB have kept me glued since the start of the show, and I must say how excellent they are -although in some cases quite insulting :( however I understand that is the nature of the beast and do not take any offence.

A special mention to Buck!:)

I have read with interest, the backlash caused by the decision of the final, and it appears the views of those visiting these boarRAB are shared with every single member of the public who has approached me whilst out & about. The support we have had is fantastic and beyond what I ever thought possible.

There are restrictions in place that prevent me from saying too much, however watching the show back (we did not know how the show was going to be edited) it appears that there were different allowances made for different couples - this is not a secret and by simply watching the show you have come to your own conclusions as well.
This is my own opinion based on where we were at the time!

I am pleased JJ and James won, as we have now become great frienRAB with them both. They are great business men and will no doubt make a profit from their concept, which with RaymonRAB help will really be a success.
We were with JJ and James, Raymond and David on Thursday night and I can confirm that Raymond did indeed write his blog, as well as take many pictures himself of the celebrations.
I do however wonder what Raymond meant by "fall at the final hurdle" as he has stated on his blog?

Based on the fact that the decision was made on a concept as opposed to the original format, I would have serious doubts about going through with it if I knew then what I know now - this was never what we applied for.
As some have said, this does resemble more of a "Dragons Den" approach instead of cooking/foh idea that has been the case for series 1 & 2.

I hope I have not come across as being bitter, as this is not the case. I am so glad of the experience and hope for better things to come from this in the future...

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this message board.
