The Restaurant 2009

Whilst bathing in the glory of correctly predicting the result 2 weeks back, I do dispair that a non-cooking cook has won.
The problem is the judges have to invest their own cash in the winners - as Theo Paphitis might say - "I'd rather stick pins in my eyes than invest in Nathan", and, to be honest, I don't think Chris was all that either - just the best of a very very bad lot.
Really this series failed before episode 1 - in previous years we've had the odd numpty like rude dad, the chinese cook who couldn't cook rice and carrot fajitas guy. But this year every couple had at least one muppet and most had two!
If they bring this back for series 4 they must have more credible contenders to start with else it'll just be the same farce again...

edit - looking forward to Buck's take on it though!

Another thing about that programme is that the blurb for it I believe gave the impression that it was an opportunity for ordinary members of the public to open their own restaurant. Now that to me strongly suggests (even if it is not downright plainly stated), ordinary people who are NOT already running their own catering establishment, even if it is a cocktail bar with snacks. Did the BBC in fact mislead the public over this or break its own rules of the programme?

Must?

RB looked decidedly chirpy on of all things BBCs Football Focus yesterday. Mind you the Beeb did give him a five minute free advert to promote his Diamond Club venture at the Arsenal's Emirates stadium. Expect the

wow. jj and james in the final?

I almost feel embarrassed for RB...

the reason I like to watch shows like the restaurant is to see skilled people ply their trade and get a prize they deserve. Whether JJJ are perceived to make the most "business sense" or not, it makes a mockery of the program concept, really.
