The Restaurant 2009

Episode 8 - The Banquet

Part 1 - Chez Raymond et David

Have eight weeks really passed so quickly? Surely it was only yesterday that we were all sitting down together with anticipatory delight at the third series of The Restaurant and now it is coming to an end. Was it really October when we saw the coconut psychos and the staff of Asda being harassed for gravadlax. Now goat toffee and army guys who can

Having lived just off Stokes Croft for almost 5 years I found this to be way too much of a coincidence, too. OK it was only a 1 in 6 chance, but I think it would have been good to see Daisy & Nadine in Clifton or on Whiteladies' Road.

The thread this season certainly seems to be "concept is king" - out of 9 pairs, 2 good/decent cooks so far have been ejected (including the couple in the first show) for not having a (sustainable) concept for their restaurant, while incompetent cooks have been kept in. I'll see this out to the end, but does anyone else think this might be the last series? :(

Episode 7 - The Demo

Part 2 - Evening Service(s)

Service tonight is going to be important. Raymond, we are promised, will be investigating all three restaurants and looking for

Just caught up with this result and what an absolute joke and mockery of a 'cooking' program, I hope this show is cancelled as a result as it's lost all credibility

Oh, for heaven's sake - give it a rest. It was a TV programme not the end of civilisation as we know it.

I wonder how many of the viewing public have watched the programme, made up their own minRAB and moved on?

IIRC it was Wednesday and Thursday last year with the second programme being "Le Shallonge". Watching both was essential which is ironic seeing as this year it is unecessary to even bother with one.

I know that the Cheerful Soul eventually opened their restaurant, after much tutoring from Raymond...

Anyone know what happened to Tat Boy & Gimp? I seem to remember that they too had some training under Raymond after the series concluded. Anyone know?

I do find it strange (or a deliberate stance) that there has been nothing on the BBC website under Entertainment. Strictly final, Wogan finishing, even Paul O'Grady finishing his show which is on Channel 4, not even the BBC! But The Restaurant final - nothing, nada, zilch. I guess they want to pretend it never happened!

Well said :) ~
I agreeeeeeee

How these two won~is just ~ appalling  and a ridiculous result
completely useless blaggers from start to finish

I would not trust either of them ~with even a greasy spoon cafe

The other pair were not that great either~especially the one who lazily wandered about

Inf act there seemed to be little overall ability~this year from most of the contestants
