The Restaurant 2009

Same here..I only started watching this year. I thought it was entertaining to start with, not so much about actually running a restaurant or cooking, but still amusing.
Now I'm beginning to lose interest. The girls who were booted at least showed some enthusiasm and flair, but their restaurant appeared to particularly run-down and stuck in a poor position.
Sad to see the ex-army guys leave, they were arguably the best at running their business for two weeks running, despite not turning up for the farmers' market.
The twins have done well, I feel rather sorry for him..he is a better chef than many people originally thought.
The ToRAB should go. They could probably run a decent wine bar, but why attempt to inflict a dodgy "picnic" restaurant on the unwary Bristol public.
The Nigerian concept might work, but knowing Bristol from years back, Stokes Croft is almost a no-go area for fine dining..would have loved to see how the toff's picnic restaurant worked down there.
The other pair..I feel a bit sorry for the chef, he clearly knows his stuff. Why did he decide to go with his scum-bag partner ?..if anyone had spoken to my wife like that, they would ended up extracting pieces of cutlery out of several orifices..now that would have made good tv.

After eliminating the mother and daughter I thought it most unfair of Raymond to also eliminate a second pair on the first night. He praised their cooking which was more then he did for many of the others.
Last year he gave some hopeless couples chance after chance.
I bet the mother and son would have been one of the better couples.

It looks like most the the couples haven't even watched the show. Raymond Blanc restaurants are not about any one particular type of cooking, like vegetarian, or Nigerian etc.

Statement above is a fair comment but this show was a farce and a very funny, embarrassing farce it was. I have complained to the BBC about the quality of the show, the contestants and the poor decisions made by Raymond and his colleagues. It was cheap tosh - poorly executed and badly conceived. Raymond, the producers, the BBC and everyone concerned should be embarrassed at the whole series. To make a show which is for a large part (not all admittedly) about the skill and quality of cooking and then to suggest that is not important is ridiculous. I hated it and thought it was hilarious at the same time - but not in a good way! It was a good lesson in how not to make a reality show!

This is a cut down cheapo version RB seems to be too embarrassed to feature in.. LOL .. An absolute joke with no one being good enough to win it. Besides the Nigerian Restaurant if they would have stuck to their guns. :)

yes, but they are still getting restaurants in week 3. At the end of the day this is quite an expensive show to make and while we all love it here, it hasn't become 'the next apprentice' that the bbc might have hoped. Ratings have been okay, but not great. That is why, i feel, some cut backs have been made.

At the end of the day, the show was terrifically entertaining as always last night and thats all that matters to me.

Oh really? THat is interesting. I was under the impression that they were already successful businessmen......

.....given as a reason for justifying the decision:rolleyes:

I'm not surprised by your revelation though

The only way Raymond can redeem his reputation and the reputation of this programme is if he enRAB up closing both of the restaurants in the final episode and refuses to go into business with any of this shocking crowd.
