The Restaurant 2009

It was 9 couples last year but only 8 Restaurants - there was an initial cook-off to eliminate one couple - the famous tinned mango puree:

This year 8 would take us to the week before Christmas, which seems about right- I think it is a compliment to last year that it has been given the run-up to Christmas, which is the peak of prime time.

T&G then have their own series in the New Year:).

You will see from earlier posts that I have located 4 of the restaurants. Anyone else have any leaRAB?

Is there going to be a show this year?

If there is, then I hope they have taken on board what has been said about the last one and go back to what the show was meant to be about.

If not, I would prefer them not to do another series.

I THINK: You take and eat whatever you like and then take the empty bowls up to the till. The bowls are different colours and so different set prices.

That's why I asked how many people just put but empty dishes and claim that it wasn't them.

:)

Could you explain this please? I'm not a cooking numpty but I have to admit I've never cooked a baked alaska either.

The way I understand scotch eggs, you boil your egg, wrap it in sausage meat, roll it in breadcrumbs then bake it. How does the sausage meat cook without the egg yolk becoming hard presuming you soft boiled it previously?

I might be out of the loop on this one, mind - I've been veggie for the last 16 years :D

I thought the quality of the contestants this year were not as good as the previous two years but I don't think the format of the programme helped it either.

Dosh, Paace. The three investors are cashing in on the cocktail boom. Sod integrity, good cooking and food. Let's get in now before the fad fades.

None of the three had any idea before this, how much was to be made from cocktails, so all three sold their integrity for a quick dime. They make me puke.

Some years ago, after watching Corrie for an age, I suddenly realised how stupid the storyline was.
The local stud turned gay in an instant? Something like that.

I realised then that I had been a fool to watch it, and never watched again. I even switch off the trailers.

That is my feeling now on Restaurant and I'm sure many RP's to follow.

RIP, reality TV. Your killer was last seen heading toward OxforRABhire. Or should that be retreating?

Thanks for the critiques Buck, as ever! So good...

Agree with sharw that this series seems to be so staged this year! Not liking the lack of a second episode in the week, therefore the lack of a "shallenge". The lack of budget for this series is quite alarming, maybe the last...

I usually lurk on these boarRAB as I love reading everyones thoughts etc about the programmes I like watching, but I HAD to post on here to say thank you for such a brilliant thread. It has had me in stitches all the way through. I will never again watch The Restaurant without first logging on here and following the thread at the same time! Hilarious. (Buck, your thoughts on the couples are classic!!)
