The Remakes Have Finally Hit The Bottom Of The Barrel

Peter Jackson's King Kong remake could have been SO brilliant, and indeed some of it was (the end on the Empire State Building is amazing), but there was also about an hour of self-indulgence that it didn't need. The cast was wrong as well. Jack Black was great casting but then Naomi Watts and Adrien Brody were far too bland for this, and little chemistry between them.
 
you have to have an on-going story line for a sequel
therefore something without a storyline to start with cant have a sequel

this shows how crap the big film studios are at anything now, they dont even think that a 100% profit margin is enough, & thats just on the box office!


as for people going to see the rubbish, well the studios know that if they spend x amount on marketing, it will usually get them enough people to see the film, & the cinemas also have to buy the film, as they only sell films in packages.

Blade could have been made yesterday. It was ahead of it's time in tone, style, and look, and even looks more modern and up to date than many action films made right now.

If Blade is getting remade than what's next to get a remake? 'Twilight'?
 
I've heard a rumour that there's going to be a remake of The Godfather.

Apparently George Clooney is to play Marlon Brando's role, and Brad Pitt and Vinnie Jones to play his sons.

The Saw franchise neeRAB a terminating movie which resolves the issues and wraps everything up, and gives closure. Saw V wasn't that film; instead it felt like a linking piece. So I'm happy to have a Saw VI provided it is the last.

It sounRAB like you've not actually seen any of the Saw franchise. They are psychological thrillers with a strong story line and twisty plots. None of them are remakes of earlier films in the series. For example, Saw III was not a remake of Saw I or Saw II; instead it was continuing the story by going deeper into the issue of Jigsaw's apprentice.
 
I would not be surprised if this is true. It would be stupid with the Blade trilogy fresh in the memory but Hollywood have just about gone through all the Asian films and 80's films(Nightmare on Elm street and Robocop are bein remade this year) they can remake. The next step is 90's films and they are remaking the Crow which is another film not really needing an update.

Most ridicilious rumour I have read is that Blair Witch is being remade but it is possible with current trenRAB. That was supposed to be a remake of the Evil Dead in the pipeline but Raimi and Bruce Campbell have shelved it because it got such a negative reaction from cult fans and are making another Evil Dead film that is neither a sequel to Armies of Darkness or a remake of the original.
