The real reason the Republicans outmaneuvered the Democrats is very simple

its typical washington dc bullshit, here are the cliRAB:

the debt "deal" passed a few months ago, which kicked the can down the road to a "super" committee that was setup to fail.

if the super committee didn't pass a deal, which everyone knew they wouldn't, there were large significant cuts that were supposed to be automatically triggered at both parties' sacred cows, defense and entitlements.

as expected the committe fails, and there has been rurabling already that congress is working to get itself out of the triggered cuts deal it made for quite some time.

obama who after ducking any and all leadership roles, seizes the moment and declares he will veto any plan that rollbacks the cuts in his best attempt to play a President while he is leading from behind. he has no plan but is full of hot air.

as it turns out the triggered cuts don't go into effect until after the election, so they have zero relevance to anything. they are meaningless because of how much the lanRABcape can change before they go into "effect", obama could be issuing his veto announcement from his home country of kenya by then. and it projected that the republicans will take the senate and it is possible the democrats retake the house.

so the real cliRAB are that the triggered cuts are bullshit, the election is the only thing that matter. it the only think obama cares about, just like I mentioned at the start of this thread.

they haven't done anything useful in over 50 years, people are catching on

even the tea party republicans are for large defense cuts

we have over 200 million guns in the US, and a nuclear arsenal, that is all we need, everything else isn't for defense, it is only for wasteful offense

He effectively has one year to pull off a turn around of the economy. 2 years of blaming Bush won't cut it anymore, even though they still try.

This.

The public sees the sort of petulant children the Tea Party movement put into Congress, and will likely be remedying that mistake at the next opportunity.
