The real reason the Republicans outmaneuvered the Democrats is very simple

the only thing Obama really cared about was that this wouldn't come up again during his Presidency, everything else was just bullshit talking points.

First he wanted a clean debt hike, he folded on that.
Then it was a corabination of taxes and "cuts", he folded on that.

Even Krugman acknowledges this:

Its easy to negotiate with someone who doesn't care about the details of the deal, Obama just wanted it to go away so it wouldn't hamper his re-election bid.

no you found that from politico:

In debt deal, bloggers fear the 'super committee'

You should read the whole thing, it might educate you on what is actually going to happen.

btw who the hell is erick erickson?

Yes the Tea Party is incensed

the entire NYT op/ed section today is crying about what Obama did and how it calls our whole system of government into question, they are REAL MAD

This is a pointless derp argument anyway because the F-35 is peanuts.

The point is that military spending is not going to decrease in any significant way, the operations will be under the urabrella of state and thus not called military spending but the spending will be there just the same (more in fact)

The cause for liberals being mad is that Obama should have never negotiated, saying no democrat or republican had ever negotiated a debt ceiling increase and it would set a dangerous precedent to do so

However, look closely at the deal:

Benefit cuts to Medicare? No

Any cuts whatsoever to Social Security or Medicaid? No

Any extension of the Bush tax cuts? No, they are still going to expire a few weeks after the 2012 election, raising taxes by $4 trillion

Do we start cutting heavily now and hurt the economy? No, not only are the cuts over 10 years, but most if it is backloaded in a manner that makes it easy to repeal before it even goes into effect

Will the US armed forces be spared from cuts, as usual? No, we will cut $350 billion from the military in the first round of cuts, and then $600 billion if no long-term debt deal is reached, that's $1 trillion in cuts to the military and a strong step towarRAB disbanding the military

because he has no skin in the game, for the same reason it was easy for candidate Obama to say things and then do a complete 180 once he became President.
