The Reader

Saw it this evening and it was amazing. Excellent cast and great directing.

I really do rate Kate Winslet but I would have preferred a relatively more unknown actress for the role of Hanna, I simply felt such a role required someone isolatory despite the fact she is proving to be a very versitile actress.

One of the best performances from Ralph Fines. Great depiction, with a lot of emotional and conscious depth into post-war Germany, the generations since and the plethora of personal conflicts.

Bought the book - wish I had read it beforehand though!

Just got back from watching this - bloody wonderful - here we are 3 days into January and I do wonder if I will see a better film this year.
KW is brilliant and I thought RF was truly wonderful - he should so be up for an Oscar (supporting) as well.
Very emotional movie and thought provoking on many levels.
Very good indeed and would recommend strongly.

I saw this today it was really good, Very touching. Amazing acting.

Only bad thing was that there was a lot of nudity and the end seemed to drag on.

Also:

Why did Micheal say anything in court? He could have saved her. I asked my sister and she said that he thought she probably deserved it and then later he felt guilty so thats why he sent her those tapes

but apart from that a great film. :)

Saw this this afternoon, just AMAZING! Always been a Kate Winslet fan, but she still really surprised me. She was sensational, as was young Michael who really deserves a nomination too. There is a few particuarly special moments for me in there, one being the flashback scene from the court room, which got me and also the 'the' moment, people who have seen it should know the bit i mean. 10/10

I'm glad to see that people liked it, I'm planning on seeing it next weekend. I've always been a fan of Kate Winslet. Although I've read the book and I normally never think the film is as good as the book.

Just saw on wiki that Nicole Kidman was supposed to play Hannah but was replaced by Kate! (glad, don't think NK would have done as a good job as Kate)

I heard that Kate was the first choice but she didnt have dates for it and then it went to Nicole and then back to Kate

Saw it on sunday, a good movie - i enjoyed it

I wholeheartedly agree ... Benjamin Button is, I think, very overrated and although an interesting concept is a very middling film. I think it wants to be a serious work but also tries to appeal to a wider range of cinema-goers.
