Stands for Mature, am I not correct? I can see why they would prohibit toddlers and kids from buying it. I am 14 and let me tell you, I'm mature enough to know the difference between a game and reality. I know life does not work like a game, there are no "extra lives" in reality, shooting somebody in a game is easy but killing a real being is not. So, the GameStop employee prohibits me from purchasing Call of Duty and Battlefield. "Sorry kid, but I can't let you purchase that."
"Okay, okay, I understand. Just letting you know that I'm not going to head out if this store, hijack a car, and run over hundreds of people, 'kay?"
