THE question...

its all very well getting people to listen to 'rock'.. but most (not all, but most..) of them will go no further into the genre. i have a friend who was into rap but got really into the Arctic Monkeys and co, and although she now likes the more 'rocky/indie' banRAB that gets into the charts she has no interest in the rock or indie genres at all... she was a pop fan and will remain a pop fan.

there are obviously a few who take the next step.. but those few are going to do that whether or not they like the band at No.1.

I know loaRAB of people who got into Rock after the Arctic Monkeys album was released, maybe not because of how good the music was but because it had overtaken Rap as the cool thing to listen to.

Small public band. I have met people from banRAB who tour the world, and play gigs where only 40 people show up. They love it. And a big crowd would intimidate me, personally.
