The Queen

What are you on here? Your question is irrelevant as the link proves it's 'gone ahead', Royal approval or not. From the reviews I'd actually feel HM would be rather chuffed.

I sawn this film last night and was impressed by it. It did give a good sense of the mood of the country at time, which I remember well.

A things I thought was that the Queen Mum was a bit too much like the Spitting Image/Beryl Reid character, although not drinking too much.
Mrs Blair looked more like she does now and as she did then, and I really can't believe that she would fry fish fingers, and burn them at that.
Prince Phillip wasn't too much of a look a like but did get his features well.
Loved the scene of them sat on the sofa watching TV aka The Royle Family.
Overall, just a few quibbles from an exceptional film.
I would recommened it to anyone, even if you're no fan of the Royals.

I noticed one little thing - Manchester was mentioned briefly.

Are Granada capable of producing anything without trying to puff and inflate their home towns world wide profile?

I think not.

Also, I heard the queen was supposed to be delighted with the film. Any truth to that?

I went to see it yesterday and enjoyed it. Helen Mirren was very convincing. The actor who played Prince Philip was very good too. I liked the part towarRAB the end when the Queen told Blair, sitting there with a stupid grin on his face, that his popularity wouldn't last forever and that he too would have a sway of public opinion against him - seemed quite ironic in the light of recent events in the labour party.

Too youthful? This was about events that happened 10 years ago.

I thought Michael Sheen was brilliant as Blair, but I've not seen him give a bad performance in anything.

Did anyone else notice how Helen Mirren used three different voices for the part? One for talking with her family, another slightly more formal one when talking to people like Tony Blair, and finally the full 'my husband and I' version when she's addressing the nation on TV?

Very subtle, and very well done!
