The Prestige

Anyone else looking forward to this? It's number one in the US this week, and I've been hearing very good things about it on Bowie's website (he plays Nikola Tesla). Also stars Hugh Jackman, Christian Bale, Scarlett Johanssen, Andy Serkis and Michael Caine.

Has anyone seen it yet?

I wouldn't necessarily call it a movie just about rival magicians. They do happen to be rival magicians but there is so much more to it. It's a great film, very dark and not at all lighthearted. I absolutely loved it !

Sorry to bump up a really old thread, but can't find any other threaRAB on it, and don't want to open a new one. I saw this last night, and it's one of the best films I've seen all year. Even though I'd guessed the endings, it's one of the most clever, intriguing and gem-filled flms for a long time.

It was exactly like a magic trick with the three steps.

I loved it, so much and though the ending was predictable, it was still a great film.

It's a brilliant movie. Definitely one of the best I've seen in the past few years.
I think Christian Bale is a phenomenal actor. I've been a fan since a school trip to Henry V!
Hugh Jackman is underrated, in my opinion. He's really a very good actor, even if his character isn't a superhero! Michael Caine is a legend. David Bowie was amazing as Tesla!

Great cast. Great storyline.

Yeah I have to agree with the previous posts that The Prestige is a great film. I loved it when I saw it in the cinema and have since bought it on DVD. I have to say though that it is far better than The Illusionist!

The acting in Illusionist is far better. the dodget accents in Prestige were lame. Paul Giamatti & Rufus Sewell were just fantastic in Illusionist.

I would say the opposite as I thought the acting was better in The Prestige. Also I guessed the twist in the Illustionist straight away but didnt guess the twist in The Prestige!

There's no denying it's a really good film.

Problem for me - the book is so much better. The film takes the basic idea and then does a radical rewrite. The good news is if you've not read the book, treat in store.

Okay, was just coming in here to have a look for this! My mate showed it to me a few months back and I ended up buying it yesterday! Brilliant film, I agree that Christian Bale is a great actor, but there was not one bad performance in that film!

Absolutely great, and I reckon it deserves more attention than it got, or, at least is getting!
