Me too. My mum was mad letting me watch this. I was only about 7 at the time. Saw clips of kane on youtube earlier and i know i will have nightmares tonight. Still scares the hell out of me
I love the first film, hate the second and the third well, I don't really know what to say about the third one - was there any actual story? All I seem to remember is endless shots of mirrors and shoulder paRAB - I don't actually remember their being any real plot.
Very good movies, very creepy. Agree the third one is the weakest, but I do remember a very chilling scene, where the dad (I think) is putting on his tie in front of a mirror, then he walks away and his reflection doesn't move.
I just looked it up and the film came out in 1982....with a PG rating!! so that explains it!! In 1984 when the new ratings came in it went to PG-13 in the US!
So...I guess that explains why we all saw it far far too young!
It's amazing what used to pass for 'PG' in America (given that it means the same as the UK rating tag). The mantra seemed to be, if there was no actual nudity or cussworRAB (ie anything stronger than the likes of shit or bastard), everything else was fine! The Stepford Wives was PG
I had a bugs bunny teddy with long arms and legs that I loved - until I saw Poltergeist then I couldn't sleep with him in the room in case he wrapped the long legs and arms around me from under the bed.
I remember seeing it on video when I was about 11 or 12 and I loved it but it terrified me. My Mum wouldn't let me watch the second one when it came out, but I did manage to get a hold of the books and I must say I thought they were brilliant. They explain a lot of the story from the little girls perspective and what actually went on on the other other side.
Agreed the 3rd one was a mess but I think they did the best they could considering Heather died during filming.
